Function documentationTransfer of Production Order with BOM and Routing

This function enables the transfer of production order with BOM and routing from SAP ERP to create or update the corresponding BOM with defined assembly operations assigned to the Production shop order in SAP ME (see Bill of Material (BOM)).

Note Note

This function works only with SAP ERP 6.05 or later with activated business function LOG_PP_MES_INT_02. For information about SAP ERP versions supporting DRF, see SAP Note 1793291Information published on SAP site.

End of the note.

Integration

  • In an SAP ERP production order, you can define BOM master data to support one of the following in SAP ME:

    • Make-to-stock manufacturing

A manufacturing process in which you manufacture products for stock based on demand forecasts. If no sales order is attached to the Production shop order, the order is used for make-to-stock manufacturing. The system reuses the existing standard BOM and routing if they match the BOM and routing in the Production shop order. Otherwise, the system creates a new standard BOM and routing or a new version of the existing BOM and routing.

    • Make-to-order or variant configured manufacturing

A manufacturing process in which you manufacture product only after a customer order is received. If a sales order is attached to the Production shop order, the order is used for make-to-order manufacturing. The system creates a shop order-specific BOM and routing for this Production shop order.

For more information, see the Activities section below.

  • You can download the complete phantom hierarchy including the phantom components and the phantom members from SAP ERP to SAP ME.

  • You can transfer co-products and by-products defined for the BOM in SAP ERP to SAP ME with production order (see Co- and By-Products in SAP Library for SAP ERP).

  • You can transfer alternate components defined for BOM in SAP ERP to SAP ME with production order. Among the components in an alternate group, the component with highest priority becomes the primary component and the other components become alternate components (see Alternative Items in SAP Library for SAP ERP).

Prerequisites

SAP ERP
  • You have created BOM master data for the produced material.

  • You have created routing master data for the produced material.

  • You have defined DRF replication model to replicate LOIPRO IDocs (in Customizing for Production, choose Start of the navigation path Integration with a Manufacturing Execution System Next navigation step Basic Settings for MES Integration End of the navigation path).

Activities

When you save a production order containing BOM and routing master data in SAP ERP, the data is automatically distributed based on DRF filter settings, SAPMEINT does the following in SAP ME:

  • Creates the corresponding Production shop order.

  • Checks the KDAUF and KDPOS field values in the E1AFKOL segment of the LOIPRO IDoc.

If the KDAUF field is not present in the segment or it is blank and KDPOS contains all zeroes, this is make-to-stock manufacturing. SAPMEINT compares them with the BOM and routing from the production order IDoc to the routing and BOM that exist in SAP ME. If they match, SAPMEINT uses the BOM and routing available in SAP ME. If they do not match, SAPMEINT up-versions the existing BOM and routing records for use with this Production shop order.

If the KDAUF and KDPOS fields contain the production order number and the item number of the sales order, this is make-to-order or variant configured manufacturing. SAPMEINT creates a shop order-specific BOM and routing for use with this Production shop order.
