Message Type Maintenance

You use this activity to define messages of different types that help monitor manufacturing processes. For more information, see Message.

This activity allows you to do the following:

Assign messages to one or more user groups on the User Groups tab page
Enter E-mail addresses on the Notification tab page to define one or more users who will receive an e-mail notification when a message is generated.

You have set the following rules in System Rule Maintenance (see System Setup Rules):

The following table describes fields requiring explanation:

Field	Description
Severity	The severity for this message (Info, Warning, or Critical)
Process Workflow	Predefined workflow template that applies to this message type (see Process Workflow Maintenance)
Message Subject	Briefly describes the message The message subject entry can include replaceable parameters (see Replaceable Parameters).
Auto Close on Process Workflow Completion	If selected, the system closes the message automatically when no other process workflow activity exists and a manual close is not needed.
Use Auto Close Interval	If selected, the system automatically changes the status of the message to Closed after a specified time interval (see Background Process Execution). Recommendation Do not select both the Use Auto Close Interval and Auto Close on Process Workflow Completion checkboxes for the same message type. End of the recommendation.
POD Notification	If selected, displays a real-time message display (RTMD) icon in the POD when a message of this type is generated; when the user clicks the icon, displays the message in the RTMD list (see Real-Time Message Display).
