Migration and SAP BW-BPS
If you are planning your budget using SAP BW-BPS (Business Planning and Simulation, formerly known as SEM-BPS), you can selecta scenario to transfer your planning data during the period when you are simultaneously migrating to BCS. See the section “Activities” below.
If appropriations were created by retracting data from SEM in your Former Budgeting system, no additional retraction into BCS is necessary, since this is done via the migration to BCS.
In any case, the budget created by the Retractor in Former Budgeting can be migrated to BCS (totals or document-based migration). If this data concerns a BCS year (migration during the fiscal year) and you need to rerun the retraction from BW-BPS, the report will include BCS data and proceedaccording to the settings you have defined.
Note
Even it is technically possible, SAP does not recommend that you continue working with the Former Budgeting Retractor after migration.
The BW Business Planning and Simulation functionality is fully integrated with the SAP system and BCS.
Select one of the three following scenarios to transfer your planning data.
In EA-PS 2.00, you migrate from FB to BCS.After the migration, you have to carry out BCS Customizing for the SAP BW Retractor and create new entries in the IMG planning activity for BCS (menu path ). Planning data is transferred or “retracted” to the backend SAP system using transaction FMBPRET_BCS.
In EA-PS 5.00, you migrate from FB to BCS. After the migration, you have to carry out BCS Customizing for the SAP BW Retractor and create new entries in the corresponding IMG activity for BCS (menu path ).In this case, planning data is transferred or “retracted” to the backend system using transaction FMCYCOPI_BW.
You upgrade from EA-PS 2.00 to EA-PS 5.00 and then migrate your data from FB to BCS. For this, please read release note PSM_50_FM_BCS_BPS_BW, Transfer of Planning Data from SAP BW to Budget Control System.
Note
Customizing for the definition of field assignments and planning data you entered previously will remain unchanged. However, as of Release EA-PS 5.00, the following transactions are no longer supported:
FMBPRET_BCS (Transfer Plan Data)
FMBPREVERSE_BCS (Reverse Plan Data Transfer)
FMBPLOGSHOW_BCS (Display Documents)
FMBPQV_BCS (Query Variant for Budget Preparation from BW) .
