In order to be able to use Funds Management (FM) integrated with other components, you must link the Organizational Unitof Funds Management, the FM area, with the organizational units of other components.

Integration with Financial Accounting

If you enter an FM account assignment (for example commitment item, funds center) when creating a document in FI, the system has to determine an FM area before it can transfer the data to Funds Management. In order to do this, you must define how the relevant FM area is to be derived.

The FM area is derived from the Financial Accounting organizational unit, the Company Codeby assigning the company code relevant for Funds Management in your organization to an FM area. One or more company codes can be assigned to an FM area.

With this assignment, you must note that the currency of each company code assigned to the FM area must match the FM area currency.

If the 1 local currency (currency 10 = company code currency) of all company codes assigned to an FM area does not match the FM area currency, you must manage an additional local currency in these company codes. The additional local currencies must have the same currency type and the same currency as the FM area currency.

You define the additional local currencies in the Customizing of Financial Accounting in IMG activity Define Additional Local Currencies and of Funds Management Government in IMG activity Make Other Settings .

Integration with Controlling

If you want to integrate Cost and Project Controlling with Funds Management, the system must also determine an FM area for transferring the data to Funds Management The FM area is not derived from a direct assignment of the organizational unit of Controlling, from the Controlling Area, to an FM area, rather from an indirect one. The FM area is determined via the company codes assigned to the controlling area to which the FM area is assigned, whereby the company code is determined from the CO objects.

This procedure enables you to exclude a controlling-relevant company code from the integration with Funds Management. (See graphic, “Organizational structure – assignments”).

Prerequisite for this procedure is the account assignment elements fund, functional area or grant in the Customizing of Public Sector Management in IMG activity Activate Account Assignment Elements .

The following combinations are possible:

  • An extra company code that does not have an assignment to an FM area can be assigned to a controlling area that is integrated in Funds management via the assignment of FM area to company code.

  • Three company codes are assigned to the controlling area, although two company codes are assigned different FM areas and one company code does not have an assignment to an FM area.

With this combination for example, only planning data for CO objects belonging to the company code assigned to this FM area is transferred with the planning data transfer in an assigned FM area.

However, if one of the account assignment elements is activated, only one assignment of controlling area to FM area is allowed. All company codes assigned to the controlling area must be assigned to the same FM area or there is no assignment of these company codes to an FM area.

Even if you use the component HR Funds and Position Management (PA-PM-FP-FM) with Funds Management, the assignment of controlling area to FM area must be unique .

Integration of other components

All other organizational units, such as the plant and the purchasing organization in Materials Management or the personnel area in Human Resources, are linked to Funds Management via the company code.
