Budget Profile Locate this document in the navigation structure

Before you can carry out budgeting in an FM area, you must create at least one budget profile and assign it to the FM area. You make these settings in the budget profile step of the Funds Management IMG. You must define the following control parameters in the budget profile:

  • Time horizon

  • Budgeting start year, based on the current fiscal year

  • Number of years into the past, from the start year, for which budgeting is allowed

  • Number of years into the future, from the start year, for which budgeting is allowed

If you do not make an entry here, the system takes the current fiscal year as the start year.

  • Budgeting of overall and/or annual values

You can only budget overall values if you are using a fund.

  • Value display parameters

Use the View parameter to determine which values are displayed, in addition to the budget, when you enter budgeting (such as the distributed value or the accumulated value). You also define the scaling and number of decimal places for your budget value display.

  • Availability control

  • Against annual/overall budgets

  • Against annual/overall releases

Note Note

The standard system contains budget profile 000001 (general budget/plan profile). You can use this, changing the detail settings to meet your requirements if you wish. This budget profile is assigned to FM area 0001, delivered as standard.

Assigning Budget Profiles

You can assign a budget profile to the individual funds master records. This enables you to control budgeting and availability control in a number of different ways. This assignment then applies in budgeting and tolerance limit verification.

Where can budget profiles be assigned?

  1. In Customizing for Funds Management , choose Assign budget profile to FM area and then choose

  • Budget profile

  • Fund budget profile .

  1. In the Funds Management menu (Master   data   Fund   Create).

Which budget profile is in effect depends on whether you are working with or without funds and on the assignments you have entered.

Note Note

If you want to define individual tolerance limits for individual budget structure elements in an FM area, you have the option of overriding the tolerance limits for the budget profile which applies to the assignments you have made. For more information on this, refer to the documentation for Define specific tolerances for availability control in the Implementation Guide (IMG).
