Background documentationSFC Number Processing

On your shop floor, product is in a dynamic state as it moves through the assembly line. Operators may take assemblies apart.

SFC numbers can be built as lots, a single unit, or as panels. In many instances SFC numbers may be built as a panel or lot and then are transformed into a single unit SFC number.

The system gives you the flexibility to reflect how you work with production units on your floor by allowing you to assign SFC numbers both individually and in groups, as follows:

  • Single SFC number: one to one

  • Groups of SFC numbers: process lot

  • Single SFC numbers with a quantity greater than one: either in a lot or as a panel

  • Shop orders: one or more SFC numbers

Operators can work all SFC numbers in a shop order by entering the shop order number in the POD. Another option to process multiple SFC numbers is to create a process lot (see Process Lot). Operators can add SFC numbers to a process lot and remove them from it at anytime during the manufacturing process. In addition, operators can release a shop order to the floor and immediately place all SFC numbers that are being released into a process lot.
