You can use this business function to employ new features of SAP Master Data Governance for defining parallel change requests, flexible edition management, multiple-record processing, enhanced usability in single-object processing and searching, and SAP HANA-based search.

You can use this business function to tailor the pre-configured data models for Financials, Material, Supplier, and Customer, or to create your own data models without using a template.

Integration

Once the business function is activated, you can adjust your Customizing settings under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications Next navigation step Master Data Governance Next navigation step General Settings End of the navigation path. In the target systems, you activate the business functions of SAP Master Data Governance that are relevant for your applications.

Features

When you activate this business function, the following features of the application component SAP Master Data Governance (CA-MDG) become available:

Parallel Change Requests

Parallel change requests allow multiple users to concurrently request, process, and approve changes to the same business object. Each change request can be processed independently of other change requests, thus allowing flexibility in the governance process.

Parallel change requests can be used for the following MDG applications:

  • Master Data Governance for Custom Objects

  • Master Data Governance for Material

  • Master Data Governance for Business Partner

  • Master Data Governance for Supplier

  • Master Data Governance for Customer

Flexible Edition Management

  • Enhanced Edition Management

You can use enhanced edition management to improve the flexibility in how you manage editions and schedule changes to edition-based business objects. Multiple-Records Processing

Multiple-record processing enables the processing of several master data records in a common environment. This function offers various possibilities for UIs that provide the option to individually process fields or use find-and-replace-options.

Multiple-record processing can be used for the following MDG applications:

  • Master Data Governance for Custom Objects

  • Master Data Governance for Material

Enhanced Usability in Single-Object Processing and Searching

Master data specialists benefit from an enhanced usability in single-object processing and searching, numerous user personalization features, and uniform user experience across the MDG applications.

SAP HANA-Based Search

SAP HANA-based search for SAP Master Data Governance enables you to perform searches and duplicate checks on master data residing in the SAP HANA database. An SAP HANA search provider is delivered to enable these features, leveraging features of SAP HANA like error-tolerant search and ranking of the results by relevancy.

Drilldown Search can be configured for generated search views. It enables you to search information by starting with a general category and moving through the hierarchy of fields to the desired records.

SAP HANA-based search for SAP Master Data Governance can be used for the following MDG applications:

  • Master Data Governance for Custom Objects

  • Master Data Governance for Financials

  • Master Data Governance for Supplier

  • Master Data Governance for Customer

Role

The following new roles provide the menu and authorizations for working with the example data model SF (Flight Data Model) and the related processes of the application framework of SAP Master Data Governance for custom objects using SAP NetWeaver Business Client:

  • Master Data Governance for Custom Objects - Flight Data Model (MDG 7.0): SAP_MDGX_FND_SAMPLE_SF_04

  • Master Data Governance for Custom Objects - Menu (MDG 7.0): SAP_MDGX_MENU_04
