You can use this business function to employ new features of SAP Master Data Governance for highlighting changes, undo changes, hierarchy processing, using editions, accessing UI configurations, and SAP HANA-based search.

You can use this business function to tailor the pre-configured data models for Financials, Material, Supplier, and Customer, or to create your own data models without using a template.

Integration

Once the business function is activated, you can adjust your Customizing settings under Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications Next navigation step Master Data Governance Next navigation step General Settings End of the navigation path. In the target systems, you activate the business functions of SAP Master Data Governance that are relevant for your applications.

Features

When you activate this business function, the following features of the application component SAP Master Data Governance (CA-MDG) become available:

Highlight Changes

The system highlights changes of a business object on the UI in the change request process. This helps you to find a particular change on the change request UI telling you what you need to check and approve.

You can use the highlight changes feature together with the MDG Web Dynpro applications for single-object processing.

The highlight changes feature is not available in the WebDynpro application USMD_ENTITY_VALUE2.

Undo Changes

The MDG system collects all your actions between two client/server roundtrips in MDG Web Dynpro applications in one step that can be undone. You can undo all actions of this step using Undo. You can undo all steps carried out since the last save. After you have used Undo, you can use Redo to recover your actions.

The undo changes function can be used for the following MDG applications:

  • Master Data Governance for Custom Objects

  • Master Data Governance for Financials

  • Master Data Governance for Business Partner

  • Master Data Governance for Customer

  • Master Data Governance for Supplier

Transparency About Scheduled Changes in Hierarchies

You can identify when the next changes to a hierarchy occur and navigate to the relevant instance of the hierarchy.

Enhanced Navigation from Change Requests to Hierarchy Processing

You can open hierarchy processing for the top-level node of a hierarchy from a change request. You can also navigate to hierarchy processing for higher-level nodes you have added to the change request. All occurrences of the node that are opened from the change request are highlighted in the hierarchy processing user interface.

Enhanced Flexibility in Copying Edition-Based Business Objects

You can create a new edition-based business object from an existing one and assign it to a different edition.

Central Point of Access for all UI Configurations in SAP Master Data Governance

You can model all UIs using an improved Customizing activity that logically groups the relevant technical objects.

SAP HANA-Based Search

SAP HANA-based search for SAP Master Data Governance is now enabled to perform complex searches involving freestyle and attribute search. Drilldown search can now be extended to provide navigation features to other UIs and additional functions by adding custom buttons on the search screen.

A new Customizing activity is introduced to define the joins and field mapping for reuse tables that will be used during the search view creation.
