Business Context and Use

This business object is used for the replication of master data of chart of accounts and accounts in financial accounting or financial statement item catalogues and financial statement items in financial consolidation from a central maintenance system into different connected financial accounting or financial consolidation systems.

Related Business Objects

In case of master data replication for accounts into operative financial accounting systems, business object GeneralLedgerAccountMaster is also relevant which offers bulk services that replicate the company code dependent data of accounts. This is not covered by services of business object ChartOfAccounts.

Notes on SAP Implementation

The replication services for ChartOfAccounts shall be used for:

  • Replication of master data of chart of accounts and accounts into Financial Accounting systems (FI-GL)

  • Replication of master data of financial statement item catalogues and financial statement items into Financial Consolidation systems (e.g. SEM-BCS,  CPM-BPC)

This business object has an additional attribute “CategoryCode” for differentiation whether the current master data belongs to Financial Accounting (value of CategoryCode = “1”) or to Financial Consolidation (value of CategoryCode = “2”).

The services of this business object only replicate master data, no customizing. This means that the necessary customizing must exist in the backend systems (e.g. FI-GL, SEM-BCS) – otherwise these services will produce error messages for the forward error handling framework (that have to be resolved manually in the backend systems).
