Generic Drill-Down Configuration Locate this document in the navigation structure

When you configure the drill-down, you can create at least one and up to seven views (charts or tables). You can also configure the KPI header details, and the filters to suit your requirements.

On the home screen, open the action menu at the bottom left corner and choose   Manage Visualizations   Drill-Down  . Search for and select an evaluation with which to configure the generic drill-down application. You can create a drill-down configuration from scratch or you can select an existing template that lets you use a drill-down configuration imported from another system. If you choose an existing template, all drill-down configurations imported into the system are shown on the side panel along with the associated evaluation title and variant ID. You can also search for and select the drill-down configuration by specifying the evaluation title or the variant ID in the search.

Prerequisites

You have implemented SAP Note 2007782 after migration in order to see the existing drill-down configurations. For more information, see the SAP Smart Business Administration Guide on SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com under   SAP Business Suite   SAP HANA Innovations for SAP Business Suite   SAP Smart Business  .

Select an Existing Drill-Down Configuration Template

You can select an existing drill-down configuration template as follows:

  1. Choose   Configure Details   Select from Existing Templates  .

You can choose an existing template that you have created or an SAP delivered template, which you can identify by the letters SAP in the KPI title or the drill-down ID (for example, sap.hba). All drill-down configurations in the system are shown in the side panel to the left of the screen along with the associated evaluation title and variant ID. You can also search for and select the drill-down configuration by specifying the evaluation title or the variant ID in the search.

  2. Select one of the drill-down configurations in the left pane. You can edit the template to suit your requirements and choose Save Configuration.

Create a New Drill-Down Configuration

You can create a new drill-down configuration and follow the steps described in the next sections by clicking   Configure Details   Create Configuration   to open the Drill-Down Configuration screen.

You can configure chart views or table views (or both) to provide additional insights into the KPI data. You can configure up to seven chart or table views. In the Show As field, enter Table, Chart, or Chart and Table.

Chart

Fill-out the following fields to configure each chart.

  1. Show As:

In the Show As field, enter Chart.

  2. View Name:

Enter a meaningful name for the view.

Choose Add Additional Language View Names to open the Add Additional Language View Names screen. Choose a language and enter a name for the view. Choose Add and then click Ok.

  3. Limit records to:

Define the number of record groupings that are displayed on the chart (for example, the number of columns in a column chart).

  4. Order By:

Choose from the four ordering options to define how the measures and dimensions are ordered. You can choose to order by measure (ascending or descending) or by dimension (ascending or descending).

    Note Note

You can only use the Order-By functionality with SAP HANA platform SPS 07, Revision 74.

    End of the note.
  5. Select Type

Enter the type of chart. The available chart types are as follows:

    Chart Type

    Description

    Line

Displays data in the form of lines at equal intervals. Line charts can, for example, compare continuous data over time against a common scale and you can therefore use them to show trends.

    Bar

Displays data in the form of horizontal bars. The x-axis displays measures and the y-axis displays dimensions.

Select Use Semantic Color and select a threshold measure for the semantic color. Other measures are assigned a semantic color by comparing their value to the value of the threshold measure.

    Column

Displays data in the form of vertical columns. You can use column charts to illustrate comparisons. The x-axis displays dimensions and the y-axis displays measures.

Select Use Semantic Color and select a threshold measure for the semantic color. Other measures are assigned a semantic color by comparing their value to the value of the threshold measure.

    Stacked Measures Column

A stacked measures column chart shows the relationship of individual items to the whole. A stacked measures column chart is the same as a column chart, but the measures are stacked on top of each other rather than being plotted adjacently. The x-axis displays dimensions and the y-axis displays measures.

    100% Stacked Measures Column

A 100% stacked measures column chart is the same as a stacked measures column chart, but the values are rendered as a percentage. The x-axis displays dimensions and the y-axis displays measures.

    Stacked Dimension Column

A stacked dimension column chart stacks up the measure values for the values of a selected dimension. The measure value for one value is displayed as a separate column alongside the stacked values.

    Column and Lines

Displays data in the form of a combined line chart and column chart. The first measure is represented as columns, while the remaining measures are represented as lines.

    Bubble

Displays a set of numeric values as circles or other shapes such as diamonds or triangles. The size of the circle corresponds to the value of one of the measures. You must select 3 measures for a bubble chart.

The first two measures plot the position of the shape along the x-axis and y-axis. The third measure is represented as the radius of the circle. The dimensions are represented as the bubble color, if there is only one, and as different shapes (for example, triangles and diamonds) if there is more than 1 dimension.

    Stacked Measures Bar

A stacked measures bar chart is the same as a bar chart, but the data series is stacked on top of itself rather than being plotted adjacently.

    100% Stacked Measures Bar

A 100% stacked measures bar chart is the same as a stacked measures bar chart, but the data series is rendered as a percentage.

    Dual Stacked Dimension Column

A dual stacked dimension column chart shows the stacked columns clustered together in pairs. You must select 2 measures for a dual stacked dimension column chart. The first measure is displayed on the left y-axis and the second measure is displayed on the right y-axis. The stack is based on the values related to the dimension values.

    100% Dual Stacked Dimension Column

A 100% dual stacked dimension column chart is the same as a dual stacked dimension column chart, but the values are rendered as a percentage. You must select 2 measures for a 100% dual stacked column chart.

The first measure is displayed on the left y-axis and the second measure is displayed on the right y-axis. The stack is based on the values related to the dimension values.

    Dual Stacked Dimension Bar

A dual stacked dimension bar chart shows the stacked bars clustered together in pairs. You must select two measures for a dual stacked bar chart. The stack is based on the values related to the dimension values.

    100% Dual Stacked Dimension Bar

A 100% dual stacked dimension bar chart is the same as a dual stacked dimension bar chart, but the values are rendered as a percentage. You must select two measures for a 100% dual stacked dimension bar chart. The stack is based on the values related to the dimension values.

  6. Select Measures:

The available measures are determined by the KPI evaluation. You can sort the measures by the same measure or by an associated measure.

    Example Example

If you choose measure A as the associated measure when sorting measure B, the system sorts measure A whenever it sorts measure B (both on default sort orders as well as when you click column B).

    End of the example.

    Note Note

You can assign any color to the selected measures in a chart (except the bubble chart and charts where the dimensions are stacked). If you do not use semantic coloring, you can pick colors from the SAP Fiori Color Palette. If you use semantic coloring you have the following options:

    1. Auto selection by threshold

You provide a threshold measure and the coloring is automatic based on the value comparison at runtime.

    2. Manual selection

You select a color from the Fiori Semantic Color Palette for the selected measure.

    End of the note.
  7. Select Dimensions:

The available measures are determined by the KPI evaluation.

You can sort the dimensions by the same dimension or by an associated dimension (for example, week, month, or year).

  8. If you have selected the Stacked Dimension Column chart type make the following additional configurations:

    • Base Dimensions:

Select the dimensions on which the chart is based (the x-axis values).

    • Column Dimensions:

Select the dimensions for the vertical columns (the y-axis values).

    • Non-Stacked Value:

This value is displayed as a separate column alongside the stacked columns.

  9. Choose Simulate to preview how the chart will appear at runtime.

Table
  1. In the Show As field, enter Table.

  2. View Name:

Enter a meaningful name for the table view.

  3. Order By:

Choose from the four ordering options to define how the measures and dimensions are ordered. You can choose to order by measure (ascending or descending) or by dimension (ascending or descending).

  4. Select Measures:

The available measures are determined by the evaluation. You can choose to show or hide the measures.

  5. Select Dimensions:

The available dimensions are determined by the evaluation.

  6. Limit records to:

Define the number of record groupings that are displayed on the chart (for example, the number of columns in a column chart).

Choose Simulate for a preview of how the table will appear at runtime.

Chart and Table
  1. Configure the chart by choosing a chart type.

  2. Configure the table.

  3. In the Default View field, enter the view that you want to appear as a default at runtime. You can toggle to the alternate view as required at runtime.

Click Ok to save your choices.

Configuring the KPI Header and Filters

KPI Header Settings
  1. The Warning and Critical fields are prefilled from the KPI evaluation. You can edit these values and also enter a target value.

  2. Select Enable Time Series to configure a trend chart that appears on the KPI header. You must enter a time dimension, for example, week or month.

  3. If you do not want the KPI aggregate value to appear in the KPI header, deselect Enable Aggregate Number.

Filters

You can specify up to five filters that allow you to look at the drill-down data from different perspectives. The available dimensions are predetermined by the SAP HANA calculation view used for the KPI evaluation.

Navigating from the Generic Drill-Down Application to other Applications

The SAP Smart Business framework allows navigation from the generic drill-down application to other applications. The semantic object must be configured so that the navigation links are displayed in the drill-down application. The navigation links can appear in either of the following locations:

  1. In the Open In menu of the SAP Fiori Launchpad, all application parameter URLs configured for a given semantic object (that do not have mandatory parameters configured) are shown, except the action that is used to call-up the current drill-down application page.

  2. In the popup that appears when you select a data point on a chart or a record on a table, all navigation links that require the selected dimensions (or a subset of them) as mandatory parameters are chosen and only these links are shown. The generic links that do not require mandatory parameters or those that require additional mandatory parameters in addition to the selected dimensions are not shown.

Navigating from one Generic Drill-Down Application to Another Generic Drill-Down Application

You can navigate from a generic drill-down application to another generic drill-down application. To do so, you must configure the target semantic object as follows:

Application Parameter URL

/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/ca_kpi/drilldown/

Target App Parameters

Specify the KPI ID and the variant ID of the target drill-down application as OTHER_KPICODE=<target.kpi.code>&OTHER_VARIANTID=<target.variant.id>

Example Example

Tile-1, which uses KPI-1 and Variant-1, is configured to DDA-1 (drill-down application 1) and Tile-2, which uses KPI-2 and Variant-2, is configured to DDA-2 (drill-down application 2). You want to navigate to DDA-2 from DDA-1. To do so, you must run transaction lpd_cust in your ABAP server and make the following configurations:

Application Parameter URL

/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/ca_kpi/drilldown/

Target App Parameters

OTHER_KPICODE=KPI-2&OTHER_VARIANTID=Variant-2

End of the example.

Note Note

The semantic object must always be configured for the default target mapping to ensure that the initial tile to drill-down navigation works. This is the same semantic object that is used for the drill-down application to drill-down application navigation. The application aliases are different: one has the target app parameters as described previously and the other does not. The application parameter URL must be the same. In the KPI modeler, when configuring KPI you must ensure that you specify the application alias (which does not have the target app parameters) and the semantic object.

End of the note.
