Procedure

Creating an Analysis Path
  1. Define initial settings

When you open the application, or when you click New (New), the initial analysis step for defining the analysis settings is immediately displayed. Here you can select one, several, or all company codes. By default, all company codes are selected. You can also enter a time frame, and select a currency and define currency conversion settings for your analysis.

    Note Note

In the Analysis Path screen area, if you hover over the thumbnail a pop-up will be displayed showing your initial settings. The thumbnail is displayed throughout your analysis. At any stage in your analysis, you can click the thumbnail to return to the initial screen and change your settings.

    End of the note.
  2. Add first analysis step

Click Add First Analysis Step to access the analysis step gallery, which is grouped according to categories, such as country, customer, and time. Click a category to display the available analysis steps for this category. Each analysis step is represented by an icon indicating the default chart type used for this step. Select the analysis step you want to start your analysis with.

  3. Select data

In the chart displayed, select data as required to filter the information provided in subsequent steps. The results of any subsequent analysis step depend on the selections you have made in the preceding ones. For more information, see Making Selections in Charts.

    Note Note

Not all analysis steps provide the option to select data.

    End of the note.
  4. Add further analysis steps

If required, drill down by adding further analysis steps.

  5. Save your analysis path

Click Save (Save) to save your analysis path for later use. The path is saved including each selected analysis step, and it retains the data selection made to filter the information.

Working with Analysis Paths

The following features are available to work with analysis paths:

  • Information tooltip

You can move your mouse over items in the charts to display a tooltip containing more information about the items.

  • Multiple Representations

Some analysis steps have several different chart types for the same step indicated by the Multiple Representation (Multiple Representation) icon.

  • Table Representation

You can display the data in each analysis step in a table by clicking the Toggle to Table (Toggle to Table) icon and return to a chart display by clicking the Toggle to Chart (Toggle to Chart) icon.

  • Move analysis steps

You can move an analysis step to a different position within the analysis path using drag and drop. All subsequent analysis steps are then instantly updated accordingly.

    Note Note

The initial analysis step for defining the analysis settings cannot be moved.

    End of the note.
  • Delete analysis steps

When you hover over the thumbnail of an analysis step, Delete (Delete) icon appears, which you can use to delete an analysis step from the analysis path. All subsequent analysis steps are then instantly updated.

    Note Note

The initial analysis step for defining the analysis settings cannot be deleted.

    End of the note.
  • Use saved analysis paths

Click Open (Open) to get to the analysis path gallery, where all saved analysis paths including the date of saving are displayed. You can use saved analysis paths, for example, to quickly access analyses that you perform on a regular basis, or to adapt your standard analysis in an easy and flexible way.

When you click the title of an analysis path, a preview consisting of all analysis steps is displayed. Click the preview to load the path and work with it.

For saved analysis paths, the following applies:

    • A saved analysis path retains each selected analysis step and the data selections made in each step. When you open a saved analysis path, the system reloads all analysis steps so that you always see the up-to-date data for your analysis.

    • Saved analysis paths are user-specific and client-specific, that is, you can see only those analysis paths that you have saved in the client that you are currently using.

  • Print analysis paths

You can print analysis paths, for example, to keep the displayed data for later use or reference.

    Note Note

For analysis steps that use a table, the system prints as many lines as you have loaded when scrolling down in the table.

    End of the note.
