To check the completeness of the ILM archive file conversion and storage in the Retention Warehouse System, you use the same check variant with which you generated the checksums for the legacy system data to generate new checksums. Matching checksums show that the complete dataset of the legacy system is available in the ILM store of the RW system.

Procedure

1. Calling Up the Function for Defining and Executing Checksum Generation

  1. In the ILM Retention Warehouse Cockpit for administrators, choose   Archive Files Transfer   Create and Compare Checksums  .

    You call up this function prior to and after archive file conversion and storage. However, you execute it with different parameters.

  2. On the initial screen, enter the ILM object that refers to checksum generation.

2. Generating Checksums After Archive File Conversion and Storage

  1. Select the same check variant that you used to generate the checksum prior to archive file conversion.

  2. Select Generate Checksums.

  3. Enter the system ID and client of the legacy system.

  4. Choose RW System.

  5. Optional: Restrict your selection.

  6. Optional: If this is a large dataset, and if checksum generation could affect system performance, select background processing.

3. Comparing the Results of Checksum Generation

When checksum generation is complete, the system displays the checksums. On the initial screen, you can use Display Checksums to display the results of checksum generation for a check variant at any time.

The list of results refers to the clients of a system. Checksums are grouped according to the selection fields of the check variant.

Information about the Checksum

Description

Number of entries (original system/store)

These two columns compare the number of fields in the legacy system (original system) and the target data in the ILM store.

Totals of field values (original system/store)

The column pairs compare the totals of the field values in the legacy system (original system) and the target data in the ILM store.
Checksum Generation Runs

The table displays all checksum generation runs that were performed with a check variant. The table contains information about each checksum generation, for example, about the user, the start and end times as well as the settings, and the status of the generation.

Check status and comment:

After the generation and evaluation of the checksums is complete, you can set the status to Completed.

Caution Caution

After the archive files have been converted, it is no longer possible to generate checksums for legacy system data that was not converted.

Display details

You can display detail data for each checksum that is generated.

You can delete or continue checksum generation. Continuation makes sense if new data has been added to the file system or the archive.
