Characteristics

You can make the following changes to a characteristic in the modeling environment:

  • You can add, modify, and delete language-dependent descriptions.

  • You can assign global or local object dependencies and delete assigned object dependencies.

  • You can overwrite the characteristic on a class-specific basis (see also Class).

  • You can create and modify long texts for a characteristic.

  • You can assign documents to a characteristic.

  • You can change the basic data and the additional data.

  • You can create a characteristic.

  • You can create a characteristic and assign it to a class in one step (see Class).

  • You can assign a characteristic to a class (see Class).

Characteristic Values

You can make the following changes to characteristic values:

  • You can create new values.

  • You can add, modify, or delete language-dependent descriptions for the values.

  • You can assign global or local object dependencies and delete assigned object dependencies.

  • You can overwrite the value on a class-specific basis (see also Class).

  • You can create or modify long texts for a characteristic value.

  • You can assign documents to characteristic values.

Note Note

Deletion of existing values is only possible in the global characteristic maintenance. You can only delete non-saved values that you have created directly in the modeling environment within a session.

Activities

Changing a characteristic

  1. In the model tree, open the class and the associated characteristics.

  2. When you expand a characteristic in the model tree, all characteristic values are displayed.

  3. To display the detail data for a characteristic, you have the following options:

    • Double-click the characteristic in the model tree.

    • Display the detail data for the class and double-click a characteristic on the Characteristics tab page.

    • In the class, select a characteristic and choose Detailed View.

  4. Choose Change.

    All functions for changing characteristics or characteristic values allowed in the modeling environment are active.

You can also call the functions for changing characteristics and characteristic values in the model tree via the context menu.

Creating a characteristic

  1. In the worklist, open the folder Environment.

  2. In this folder, select the node Characteristic and choose Create characteristic in the context menu.

  3. Enter the name of the new characteristic in the popup that appears. Here you can also choose to create a reference characteristic by selecting the relevant checkbox.

  4. The Detailed View of the new characteristic appears. Here you can specify its basic data, additional data, values, descriptions, and so on.
