Object documentationConstant for Standard Account Assignments Locate this document in the navigation structure

Defines fixed account assignment values for each document splitting characteristic.

With this object, you can define standard account assignments for document splitting.

You require the standard account assignments in processes where it is not possible to derive the correct account assignments for the document splitting characteristics of General Ledger Accounting when posting the document. This is the case if the required information is not yet available when the posting is made (for example, for payments without invoice reference).

You can use the standard account assignments to simplify the document splitting method, since you do not necessarily have to derive the account assignments from other item categories for every item category that you want to split.

You can use the constants as follows:

  • Standard account assignment for all business transactions

When you activate document splitting, you can activate the standard account assignment in Customizing. If the system cannot derive the account assignments of individual line items either from the document splitting rules defined or through inheritance, it uses the standard account assignment.

You can deactivate the general standard account assignment in the document splitting rules for individual item categories in individual business transactions.

  • Standard account assignment for individual item categories of a business transaction

You can assign a standard account assignment to the individual item categories to be processed in the definition of the document splitting rule. In this case, the system does not derive the account assignment from a basis item category, but from the constant assigned.

Structure

You can define multiple constants. A constant can contain multiple value assignments.

The constant is structured as follows:

  • You can assign a standard value for each document splitting characteristic defined.

  • If you have defined a controlling area-specific characteristic, such as the profit center, as a document splitting characteristic, you can assign a profit center as a fixed value for each controlling area.

You define the constants in Customizing for Financial Accounting (New) under   General Ledger Accounting (New)   Business Transactions   Document Splitting   Edit Constant for Nonassigned Processes  .

You can assign a standard value either to all or just some of the document splitting characteristics. The system always treats the standard values assigned as a combination, which means that it either uses the standard values for all document splitting characteristics defined in the constant or for none of the document splitting characteristics. If you have only assigned document splitting characteristics A and B in the constant and have assigned standard values, the system performs document splitting as follows:

  • If the system could not derive the account assignments for document splitting characteristics A and B, it uses the standard account assignments from the constant assigned for both of the document splitting characteristics.

  • If the system was able to derive the account assignment for document splitting characteristic A, but not the account assignment for document splitting characteristic B, then a distinction is made between the following two cases:

    • If the account assignment for document splitting characterisitc A matches the standard value from the constant assigned, the system also uses the standard value for document splitting characteristic B.

    • If the account assignment for document splitting characteristic A does not match the standard value from the constant assigned, the system similarly does not use the standard value for document splitting characteristic B.

  • If the system was able to derive the account assignments for other document splitting characteristics that are not assigned in the constant but was not able to derive the account assignments for document splitting characteristics A and B, the system uses the standard values from the constant assigned for both document splitting characteristics A and B.

If no standard value has been asigned to a document splitting characteristic assigned in the constant, the system also takes this assignment into account. If you have assigned document splitting characteristics A, B, and C in the constant but have not assigned a standard value for C, the system only uses the standard values for document splitting characteristics A and B if it also could not derive an account assignment for document splitting characteristic C.

Integration

The constants for standard account assignment relate to document splitting.
