The system displays the conflicts that occurred during Guided Structure Synchronization in the reconciliation workbench (see Reconciliation Workbench). Conflicts can be caused by structure changes or attribute changes to both the source and target structure outside the reconciliation workbench. These changes can lead to differences between the source and target structure.
Example
You have synchronized your engineering BOM with a manufacturing BOM and added an item to the engineering BOM afterwards. This item is missing in the manufacturing BOM. You have the following options:
You insert the item in the target BOM. However, if the corresponding higher-level item is missing in the target BOM, the system displays a conflict in the reconciliation workbench.
You do not insert the missing item in the target BOM. The system shows a conflict in the reconciliation workbench, which proposes the action Delete item in target BOM as a solution, for example.
The system lists all conflicts of the source and target structures that occurred during synchronization. Here we must distinguish the following cases:
Synchronization |
Source structure |
Target structure |
---|---|---|
Initial |
Conflicts may occur and are displayed. |
Conflicts cannot occur because there is no target structure yet. |
Consecutive |
Conflicts may occur and are displayed. |
Conflicts may occur and are displayed. |
Conflicts are categorized by their conflict type and the assigned severity. The following severities are supported:
The following severities are supported:
(Note)
No further steps are necessary.
(Warning)
You can find more information in the area Conflicts. You can ignore warnings.
(Not synchronized)
This level of severity can only occur in the source structure. The system did not synchronize the object because there is no corresponding object specified in the manufacturing BOM and it therefore cannot be created.
(Error)
Errors occurred during synchronization. Synchronization was not completed. The synchronization unit receives the status Failed. You can find more information and possible solutions in the area Conflicts. So that the synchronization unit has the aligned status, you must resolve the conflicts that occurred.
You assign actions to conflict types in Customizing for Guided Structure Synchronization. Actions contain predefined proposals for solutions to the conflicts. The system proposes these solutions in conflict processing in the reconciliation workbench according to the type of conflict that occurred. You can select these actions for resolving conflicts and apply them to the proposed target structure.
In the reconciliation workbench you can also perform manual actions that are not predefined or depend on the conflict type by changing the structures or adding /deleting items.
Note
The system saves all the actions you perform in the reconciliation workbench and takes them into account for subsequent synchronizations. Changes to structures outside the reconciliation workbench in engineering or manufacturing are not saved in the workbench and lead to conflicts.

.You can do the following when processing conflicts in the reconciliation workbench:
Highlight
You can select a conflict and highlight the affected BOM item in the target structure by choosing Highlight.
Manual changes to the target structure
You can copy individual items to the clipboard and insert them at a different position later on. The system saves these manual changes to structures in the reconciliation workbench and takes them into account in subsequent synchronizations.
Export to Microsoft Excel
You can copy the list of conflicts to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, for example, for documentation purposes.
Apply solutions
When conflicts occur, the system proposes actions which are dependent on the conflict type. The system applies the action to the target structure and adapts it as necessary.
