PMEVC: BOM
In the modeling environment, you can assign object dependencies to a BOM item, or change or create new global or local object dependencies. You can delete assigned global or local object dependencies.
You cannot change BOM items.
To be able to call the BOM in the modeling environment, you need to have specified a BOM application and plant on the initial screen.
The BOM and the BOM items are displayed in the model tree.
In the detailed view, you can display the BOM header data and the data for the BOM items. You cannot change the header data or the data for the BOM items.
The assigned object dependencies are displayed in the model tree as nodes of the BOM items.
In the modeling environment, changes to the BOM are only possible for assigning and for creating object dependencies for a BOM item:
● You can delete local object dependencies.
● You can delete the assignment of global object dependencies.
● You can create new global object dependencies. However, the system checks whether the assigned dependency type is valid.
● You can create local object dependencies.
● You can use drag and drop to assign existing global object dependencies, displayed in the model tree under Favorites or Environment, to a BOM item. In doing so, the system checks whether the assigned dependency type is valid.

You cannot use the wizard to create object dependencies for BOM items.
The modeling environment contains a simplified procedure for creating selection conditions. You can use drag and drop to select one or more characteristic values and drop them directly on the desired BOM item. A selection condition for the BOM item is created with the characteristic value.
You can make specific default settings for creating the selection conditions. You can set the following:
● That the selection conditions should always be created as local object dependencies
● That you are asked during creation whether the selection conditions are to be created as local or as global object dependencies
● That the selection conditions should always be created as global object dependencies
You make the settings under Extras → Settings. A dialog box appears; on the Object Dependencies tab page under Pull Values to BOM Item, you can specify how the system is to behave when creating the selection conditions.
Multiple values for the same characteristic are linked with OR, multiple values for different characteristics are linked with AND.

1. In the model tree, double-click the BOM item for which you want to create object dependencies.
On the header data for the BOM item, select Change.
2. A dialog box appears where you can enter a change number, if applicable.
Confirm your entry.
3. The Object Dependencies tab page is ready for input.
...
1. In the detailed view for a BOM item, on the Object Dependencies tab page, choose Create Local Object Dependencies.
2. A dialog box appears in which you have to select the dependency type.
3. Confirm your entry.
The dependency editor appears, in which you can create the object dependencies.
When you create the object dependencies, the status is set to In Preparation. To release the dependencies, you have to change the status manually.

You can also create local object dependencies in the model tree via the context menu.

1. In the detailed view for a BOM item, on the Object Dependencies tab page, choose Create Global Object Dependencies.
2. A dialog box appears in which you have to enter a name for the dependency and the dependency type.
3. Confirm your entries.
The dependency is displayed on the tab page.
4. Double-click the dependency to create the syntax and to edit the basic data.
You have various options for assigning global object dependences:
...
● Under Favorites or Environment, select a global dependency and pull it to the desired BOM item.
The dependency is assigned to the BOM item and is displayed on the Object Dependencies tab page in the detailed view for the BOM item.
● You can assign object dependencies on the Object Dependencies tab page, in the detailed view for the BOM item.
● You can assign object dependencies to the BOM item by right-clicking in the model tree to call the context menu.
...
1. Navigate to the desired characteristic value in the model tree.
2. Select the characteristic value and drag it to the BOM item for which you want to create the selection condition.
3. Depending on your default settings, the selection condition is created as follows:
○ If you have selected the setting Create Local Selection Condition, the system creates a local dependency.
The dependency is immediately visible in the model tree; in the detailed view, you can create the basic data, texts, and syntax for the dependency on the tab pages.
○ If you have selected the Choose Local/Global Seln Cond. setting, a dialog window appears in which you indicate whether you want to create local or global object dependencies.
In case of global object dependencies, you must specify a name and a description for the object dependencies.
In the detailed view, you can display and change the basic data, texts, and syntax for the selection conditions. The dependency syntax was generated from the characteristic value and can be changed in the editor.
For global object dependencies, the Use tab page indicates to which object the dependencies were assigned in the model. Because the object dependencies are global, the object dependencies can be used in multiple objects.
○ If you have selected the Create Global Selection Conditions setting, a dialog window appears in which you have to specify the name and the description for the dependency. You can display and change the dependencies in the detailed view.
