Knowledge Base and Knowledge-Base
Profile
You can use the modeling environment for Variant Configuration to create and edit knowledge-base objects and edit profiles for knowledge-base objects.

You can use the modeling environment to
· Assign an existing knowledge-base object to the material
· Create a knowledge-base object for the material – provided that the material has not already been assigned one
· Edit existing knowledge-base objects in the model tree or worklist
· Load existing knowledge-base objects to the worklist
· Edit knowledge-base profiles for knowledge-base objects
Use the context menu of the material in the model tree to create and assign knowledge-base objects or load them to the worklist.

1. Select the material and use the context menu to create a new knowledge-base object or assign an existing one.
2. Assign the knowledge-base object a name or enter the name of the existing knowledge-base object. Alternatively, you can use the search help to find an existing knowledge-base object.
3. Enter the name for the knowledge-base profile.

Open the worklist and the Environment folder to load existing knowledge-base objects to the worklist using the context menu.
You can also use the context menu to delete a knowledge-base object.
To delete knowledge-base objects with runtime versions, you have to delete the runtime versions first.
Open the detailed view of a knowledge-base object to edit the object.

When you create a knowledge-base object, system automatically assigns a knowledge-base profile that refers to the material for which you want to create the object.
When you assign an existing knowledge-base object, the object can already have several profiles for the materials to which the object is already assigned. When you complete the assignment, the knowledge-base object then has a further profile that refers to the material to which you are assigning the knowledge-base profile.

Open the detailed view to edit a knowledge-base profile. To do so, double-click the name of the profile in the detailed view for the knowledge-base object.
