Function documentation Physical Inventory: Support for Store Physical Inventories  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

If store stock is managed in the Inventory Management System of the head office, a physical inventory is carried out for the stock in the store in a similar way to the central physical inventory. The following functions are available to facilitate communication with the store:

·        Physical inventory documents can be sent to the store in the form of intermediate documents (IDocs)

·        Count data can be sent from the store to the head office in the form of intermediate documents (IDocs)

·        Count data from the store can be processed automatically

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Prerequisites

·        You can only have support for carrying out a store physical inventory if you use SAP Retail.

·        A suitable interface must be available in the store for data to be exchanged in the form of intermediate documents. Alternatively, data can be transferred as printed lists.

Scope of Functions

The most suitable physical inventory methods for a store are periodic inventory and cycle counting. Not all special stock types are supported in a store physical inventory. You can use special stock types Consignment for vendor, Returnable transport packaging for vendor and Sales order stock.

You cannot use the functions for supporting the store physical inventory together with the ERP Warehouse Management. However, Warehouse Management provides an IDoc type which enables you to send and receive physical inventory documents in the form of IDocs.
