Record Merge and Checkout 

Some restrictions apply if you attempt to merge checked out records:

·        You can merge records only if none of them are checked out, or all of them are the checked out versions of checked out records.

·        You cannot merge the original versions of checked out records, nor the checked out version of a record with an unchecked out record or the original of a checked out record.

·        When a single surviving checked out record is checked in, the originals are then replaced with the single checked out record.
