Hierarchy Tree Operations
The following sections describe how to modify the hierarchy tree using the MDM tree operations. For each operation, you will also find a list of constraints describing the conditions necessary for completing the operation. These operations for manipulating a hierarchy tree apply to any editable tree in the MDM Client, and are summarized in the table below.

The MDM Client prevents you from performing tree operations that would result in a loss of data integrity.

Adds a new node to the tree as a sibling after the selected node. |

Adds a new node to the tree as the last child of the selected node. |
Rename Node |
Renames the selected node. |

Removes the selected node from the tree. |
Change Case |
Changes the name of the selected nodes to the selected case (upper, lower, sentence, title, toggle). |
Sort Children |
Sorts the children of the selected node in ascending or descending order. |
Sort Entire Branch |
Sorts all of the descendants of the selected node in ascending or descending order. |
Move Node |
Moves a node between locations in the tree. |
Merge Nodes |
Merges one node into another. |
Hide Children |
Hides the display of hierarchical detail of the tree. |
Create Alias |
Creates a duplicate node so that a node can exist in multiple locations in the tree. |
Create Internal Leaf Node |
Creates an internal leaf node for the selected tree item. |

Sibling nodes in a tree cannot have the same name.
