Coding of Data Values
Like multi-record selection in the Records pane, values in the grid within the Merge Records dialog are color-coded to indicate whether they are the same or different – and whether any values are missing – as further described in the table below.
Color |
Description |
Missing |
None |
No value appears in any of the selected records. |
All |
Black |
The same value appears in all of the selected records. |
None |
Blue |
The same value or NULL appears in all of the selected records. |
One or more |
Magenta |
Different values or NULL appear in the selected records. |
One or more |
Red |
Different values appear in the selected records, but all the records have values. |
None |

Notwithstanding the color coding above, for each row whose value is set, the value is displayed in black bold in: (1) the Merged Record column; and (2) each of the original record column(s) that supplied the value, highlighting the source of each merged value.
