To display and analyze the global batch traceability network SAP Global Batch Traceability (SAP GBT) needs one-time data transfers and periodic data transfers from the connected SAP systems into the global batch traceability repository. For example, master data or batch where-used records.

Note Note

All information regarding the integration with SAP ERP refers to SAP ERP as of release 6.0.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites to Integrate Master Data
  • You have made all settings to set up the Application Link Enabling (ALE) distribution. For more information, see Customizing for SAP GBT under General Settings.

  • You have defined the mapping for the IDoc types. For more information, see Customizing for SAP GBT under General Settings or Mapping of IDoc Types.

  • If you use batch classification in SAP ERP, you must transfer the corresponding batch class definitions and their class characteristic definitions to SAP GBT. For more information, see Integrating Batch Classes and Characteristics from SAP ERP.

Prerequisites to Integrate Organizational Data and Where-Used Data
  • For integration with SAP ERP as of release 6.0, you must have installed integration component GBTRINT. For more information about integration of previous SAP ERP releases, see SAP Note 1650456.

  • To determine what where-used data SAP ERP should transfer to SAP GBT, you have maintained the SAP GBT relevant plants. On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose   Cross-Application Components   SAP Global Batch Traceability   Data Collection in SAP ERP   Specify Filter for Events  .

Integration

The following figure gives you an overview of the integration of where-used data, master data, and organizational data:

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text.

Integration of Where-Used Data, Master Data, and Organizational Data from SAP ERP

Integration of Where-Used Data

SAP GBT calls SAP ERP via Remote Function Call (RFC) and pulls the necessary where-used data using integration component GBTRINT. During this process step, SAP GBT also pulls the necessary detailed attributes for business documents. For more information, see Delta Load of Where-Used Data from SAP ERP and Initial Load of Where-Used Data from SAP ERP.

Integration of Master Data

If SAP GBT is integrated with SAP ERP, SAP ERP distributes the master data to SAP GBT (push process). For the master data migration from SAP ERP SAP GBT uses IDocs via ALE. For more information, see Integrating Master Data and Organizational Data from SAP ERP

Integration of Organizational Data

SAP GBT calls SAP ERP via Remote Function Call (RFC) and pulls the necessary organizational data using integration component GBTRINT.

To transfer address data of plants, on the SAP Easy Access screen choose   Cross-Application Components   SAP Global Batch Traceability   Data Collection in SAP ERP   Retrieve Plant Master  .

For more information, see Integrating Master Data and Organizational Data from SAP ERP.
