Some of the standard ABAP Editor functions behave differently in the Splitscreen Editor.

This function depends on the position of the cursor. If you call the Splitscreen Editor from the Modification Assistant, you can edit only the new SAP source code. You cannot edit code from a remote system |
Other Program |
You cannot use this function if you have called a program from a remote system or opened the Splitscreen Editor from the Modification Assistant. |
Save |
The system saves the contents of the screen that is currently active. If you are in compare mode, the system also removes the $$ lines inserted during the comparison.
You cannot save source code from a remote system. |
Display Active/Inactive Source |
You can display both versions of an object (wherever both an active and an inactive version exist).
This function is not available when you call the Splitscreen Editor from the Modification Assistant. |
Execute |
You cannot execute programs from a remote system. You cannot execute any programs when you have called the editor from the Modification Assistant. |
Generate Version |
This function is not available when you call the Splitscreen Editor from the Modification Assistant. |
Select, Copy to Buffer, Insert Buffer |
These functions allow you to copy blocks of code from one window to the other. |
