Valid for SAP NetWeaver 7.10, SAP NetWeaver 7.00 SP14, SAP NetWeaver 6.40 SP21, and SAP Web AS 6.20 SP63

With the following procedure, you can assign a contractual user type to a few key roles (such as composite roles). When these roles are then assigned to users, these users can be classified using the assigned user types. If multiple classified roles are assigned to a user, the roles are consolidated in a similar way to what is done in the License Administration Workbench (role X is contained in role A, therefore role A is used for classification). If the system cannot consolidate the roles, for example, because too many roles are classified, it indicates this in a list.

The roles are classified by activity area and not by authorization.

Prerequisites

A user can only inherit the classification of the role if:

  • The user is not classified using a reference user

  • The user is not manually classified

Procedure

  1. Start transaction LICENSE_ATTRIBUTES.

    The system displays a client-specific list of all existing single and composite roles.

  2. In the row of the role to be classified, use the input help to select the contractual user type in the User Type column.

  3. Save your entries.

  4. You can now assign the classified role to users in user maintenance (transaction SU01) to assign a contractual user type for licensing to them.

  5. To display the classification result of the roles, start transaction USMM and choose   User Data Analysis   Classification Help   Role Inheritance  .

    The system displays a list of the users that have been assigned classified roles. The users can have the following classification statuses:

    green = OK

    Yellow = manual classification of the user is required, since the different roles cannot be consolidated

    red = Manual user classification that does not match the role classification

Result

You have classified a small number of important roles for licensing users to assign a contractual user type to the users.
