Downloading Referenced SyncBO Records 

Use

You use this procedure to download SyncBO records to your device.

Related SyncBOs are not downloaded to a device in the following scenario.

There are two SyncBOs A and B.

§         SyncBO A has a child C, which is associated to the header of SyncBO B.

§         SyncBO B has a child D.

Consider the following example where:

§         SyncBO A has an instance A1 with two child nodes C1 And C2.

§         SyncBO B has two instances B1 and B2.

§         C1 references B1 and C2 references B2 respectively.

At a given point of time, A1 and B1 are present in the data store while B2 is not present. On synchronization, instance A1 (with child node C1) and B1 is sent to the device. Since B2 is not present in the data store, C2 is not sent to the device.

Assume after a certain amount of time, B2 is present in the data store. On synchronization, C2 and B2 are not sent to the device. This is because there were no modifications made to instance A1.

Hence until A1 is modified such that the references are recalculated, the data will not be sent to the device.

Procedure

...

       1.      Start transaction merep_pd.

       2.      Choose the Synchronizer tab page.

       3.      Choose  Display <-> Change.

       4.      In the line for the SyncBO that is subject for cascade download, select the Cascade column. (The displayed number should be higher than 0.)

The SyncBO that is subject for cascade download is the referenced SyncBO, which is downloaded after the referring SyncBO.

The Cascade Setting window appears and displays a list of SyncBOs and their fields which refer to the SyncBO.

Field XF1 of SyncBO X and field YF1 of SyncBO Y may both refer to SyncBO Z. Both SyncBOs are listed with their fields in the Cascade Setting window.

       5.      In the Cascade Setting window, select Cascade for the SyncBO that is to lead the cascade download of the SyncBO. If you want to exclude a field from influencing the download of the SyncBO in question, deselect Cascade.

       6.      Choose  Continue.

       7.      Select Filter by Reference for the SyncBO in question.

When this option is selected for a SyncBO it is excluded from the normal filtering download process. If you only want SyncBOs to be downloaded that are referenced by other SyncBOs, you can select this option to improve performance.

       8.      Choose  Save to activate your changes.

Result

Only the SyncBO records that are actually referenced by the referencing SyncBO records on the target client are downloaded.
