Function documentationBatch Determination for Outbound Deliveries

You can activate automatic batch determination for delivery item categories using the Customizing activity Activate Automatic Batch Determination in SD under Start of the navigation path Logistics - General Next navigation step Batch Management Next navigation step Batch Determination and Batch Check End of the navigation path. For such delivery items, batch determination is triggered automatically in outbound deliveries. A batch split describes the situation where more than one batch is used to cover a particular delivery. The batch split function in the delivery includes a batch selection screen and an availability check.

Prerequisites

You have defined the necessary settings in the Customizing activities under Start of the navigation path Logistics - General Next navigation step Batch Management End of the navigation path.

Features

In SAP Fashion Management, segmentation is integrated in the batch determination process. If you use articles that are not relevant for segmentation, batch is determined in the same way as in the batch determination process in standard SAP ERP.

Note Note

If you have configured the system to execute an order allocation run for an article that is relevant for segmentation and season, the allocation run proposes the allocated batch with batch split. The order allocation run proposes the batch irrespective of the batch determination process being configured or not.

End of the note.
Scenario 1

If you create an outbound delivery with reference to a sales order, a stock transfer order, a return purchase order, or without any reference, the batch is determined as follows:

Automatic Batch Determination is OFF

If you have not activated automatic batch determination, you can enter the batch number in the delivery documents manually. You can only enter the batches that belong to the valid stock segment value maintained in the mapping rule in the Requirement/Stock Allocation table in the Customizing activity Define Segmentation Strategy. If the article is relevant for the season IM process, the system also copies the season from the batch you have provided. If the article is relevant for season processing but not relevant for the season IM process, the system copies the seasons available in the reference document and assigns them to the main item.

Automatic Batch Determination is ON

  • For an article relevant for segmentation, the system filters the batch numbers according to the segmentation value and proposes a suitable batch number with batch split.

    Note Note

For the requirement segment provided in the reference document, the corresponding stock segment is determined using the mapping rule defined in the Requirement/Stock Allocation table in the Customizing activity Define Segmentation Strategy under Start of the navigation path Logistics - General Next navigation step Segmentation End of the navigation path. Then, the batch is determined based on the stock segment.

    End of the note.
  • For articles relevant for segmentation and seasons (you have selected the Season Active in Inventory Management checkbox in the article master), the system filters the batch numbers according to the segmentation value and proposes an appropriate batch number(s) with batch split. Seasons are not considered for batch determination. For the main items in the delivery, the system copies the season from the reference document. For the batch split items, the system copies the season from the batches.

  • For articles that are not relevant for segmentation but relevant for seasons (you have selected the Season Active in Inventory Management checkbox in the article master), the system determines the batch in the same way as the batch determination process in standard SAP ERP. For the main items in the delivery, the system copies the season from the reference document. For the batch split items, the system copies the season from the batches.

  • For articles that are relevant for segmentation and seasons (you have not selected the Season Active in Inventory Management checkbox in the article master), the system filters the batch numbers according to the segmentation value and proposes an appropriate batch number(s) with batch split. Seasons are not considered for batch determination. For the main items in the delivery, the system copies the season from the reference document. For the batch split items, the season is blank.

Scenario 2

If you create an outbound delivery with reference to a return sales order or return stock transfer order, the batch is determined in the same way as the determination process described in scenario 1 with the following differences:

  • If the system cannot determine a batch in the standard batch determination process, you can manually enter a new batch number that is not yet available in the system.

  • For an article relevant for segmentation and seasons (you have selected the Season Active in Inventory Management checkbox in the article master), the following is valid:

    • If the season is not available in the reference document, the system reacts as follows:

      • Proposes new seasons using the BAdI BADI_SEA_SPEC_PORD_MM and creates a batch when you save the document.

      • Proposes the default season maintained in the article master for creating the new batch, if you have not implemented the BAdI.

      • Displays an error message as the batch cannot be created, if the season is not maintained in article master.

    • The system proposes the first segmentation value entered in the mapping rule defined in the Requirement/Stock Allocation table in the segmentation strategy. The system creates a new batch for the proposed stock segmentation value and season (if relevant). If you have not mapping rule in customizing, the system cannot create the batch.
