Segmentation (LO-SGT)

A mechanism used in logistics processes to logically categorize materials based on certain characteristics or criteria that can either be physical (for example, quality) or logical (for example, country of origin).

Segmentation involves assigning segments to a material using a segmentation structure and segmentation strategy. During this assignment, the requirement segment and the stock segment are specified for every requirement and stock (or receipt), respectively.
