 App Implementation for Analytical Apps

Analytical apps provide insight into the real-time operations of your business by collecting and displaying analytic information and indicators, such as KPIs, directly in your browser. To do this, the analytical apps combine the data and analytical power of SAP HANA with the integration and interface components of SAP Business Suite. Before you can use analytical apps, you must set up and configure the required system landscape, including the front end as well as the back end. For more information about the system landscape for analytical apps, see Setup of SAP Fiori System Landscape with SAP HANA XS.

The installation and configuration tasks differ according to the type of app that you want to use:

  • Analytical apps that are launched by using a KPI tile

For these analytical apps, you can use or adapt the predefined KPIs or model your own KPIs. To determine which KPIs are displayed for each user in the SAP Fiori launchpad, you can group these KPIs and assign them to roles. A generic drill-down application included in the SAP Smart Business foundation component provides access to detail views for each tile. You can use predefined templates of the drill-down application or configure this drill-down application according to your requirements.

  • Analytical apps that are launched by using an app launcher tile

For these analytical apps, what information is displayed and how it is displayed is defined as part of the provided app-specific content. You cannot adapt or configure the information displayed by these apps. However, in the SAP Fiori launchpad, you can control what each user sees by grouping these apps into catalogs and groups and assigning them to roles.

For the following procedures, you need information from the product documentation, such as technical names of services and roles. For more information about this data per app, see the app-specific documentation in the section SAP Fiori Apps.
