 Configure SAP Visual Business to Enable GeoMaps (Fact Sheets)

 

If you want to use fact sheets with integrated geographical maps, you must maintain the relevant Customizing settings for SAP Visual Business on your back-end server in Customizing for SAP NetWeaver under Start of the navigation path UI Technologies Next navigation step SAP Visual Business End of the navigation path.

For the fact sheets, you need to define an application with exactly the technical name ZFACTSHEETS in the Customizing activity Maintain Application Definitions.

Prerequisites

The business function Visual Business (FND_VISUAL_BUSINESS) is active.

Activities

Perform the following steps on your back-end server in Customizing for SAP NetWeaver under Start of the navigation path UI Technologies Next navigation step SAP Visual Business End of the navigation path:

Note Note

By default, no map is licensed for productive usage. As an SAP customer, you need to buy a map license from a map provider.

  1. Define a map product:

    The definition of map products is the basis for the following steps. You must define at least one map product before further Customizing settings can be made.

    1. In the Customizing activity Maintain Application Definitions, select Map Product from the Dialog Structure.

    2. Create a new entry and assign it a unique ID and a description.

    3. Specify the map provider and the copyright information.

    4. Define the technical parameters, such as the pixel size of the map tiles, the supported zoom levels (in the LOD fields).

    5. Enter the service URL under the subnode Map Server in the Dialog Structure.

      Note Note

      The service URLs are specified as templates including placeholders. These are filled at runtime. The placeholders available are described in the F1 Help of the URL field.

      If the map provider uses multiple servers, you can specify all of them for load balancing.

  2. Define a map layer stack:

    A map layer stack is a grouping of map products and can be assigned to an application.

    1. In the Customizing activity Maintain Application Definitions, select Map Layer Stacks from the Dialog Structure.

    2. Define a map layer stack by assigning an ID and a technical name to it.

    3. Assign one or more map products under the subnode Map Product Assignments in the Dialog Structure.

      If assigned map products are opaque, you can increase or decrease the opacity of succeeding layers. Furthermore, you can specify the background color for transparent map parts.

  3. Create application ZFACTSHEETS

    The application definition is the final bracket around the previous definitions. To include geographical maps into fact sheets, you must use the technical application name ZFACTSHEETS, because this name is called from the fact sheet annotation files.

    On application level, you can define the navigation behavior and the visual appearance of the navigation control.

    1. In the Customizing activity Maintain Application Definitions, select Applications from the Dialog Structure.

    2. Create a new entry with the technical name ZFACTSHEETS and define the navigation function settings and the visual appearance according to your requirements.

    3. Assign one or more map layer stacks under the subnode Map Layer Stack Assignments in the Dialog Structure.

      If you assign more than one map layer stack, you must mark one of them as the default. The other stacks can be made available to users through personalization.
