 Installation Requirements

Prerequisites

This documentation assumes that the following components have already been set up in your system landscape:

  • ABAP back-end server with SAP Business Suite

  • ABAP front-end server with SAP Gateway, central UI components, and product-specific UI components

For more information, see Setup of SAP Fiori System Landscape with ABAP Environment.

Software Components

The following sections summarize the required and optional software components for an SAP Fiori System Landscape with SAP Mobile Platform.

We recommend that you apply the latest service packs and patches for each component. For the most up-to-date information, see the Product Availability Matrix at http://support.sap.com/pamInformation published on SAP site and the release notes in the relevant product documentation on SAP Help Portal.

SAP Mobile Platform Server (On Premise)

Component

More Information

SAP Mobile Platform Server

For detailed information on how to design your system landscape and install the software in test and production environments, see the SAP Mobile Platform Server documentation at http://help.sap.com/mobile-platformInformation published on SAP site.

For release information, see SAP Note 1904213Information published on SAP site.

Persistence database

The persistence database stores metadata – data about the data that passes through the SAP Mobile Platform system.

SAP Mobile Platform Server includes a database that is intended for use in a development or proof-of-concept installation only. Use a custom database for your production installation.

For information about supported databases, see SAP Note 1934552Information published on SAP site.

Reverse proxy

A reverse proxy is used to provide mobile device users access to on-premise SAP Mobile Platform servers that are situated behind the corporate firewall. For this purpose, the reverse proxy is installed in a DMZ area. The reverse proxy can also be used to balance the load among several SAP Mobile Platform servers.

You can use SAP Web Dispatcher or a third party reverse proxy such as Apache HTTP Server. If you use a third party reverse proxy, see the manufacturer documentation for installation information.

For information on supported reverse proxies, see SAP Note 1904213Information published on SAP site.

Caution Caution

SAP Relay Server is not supported for use with SAP Fiori. The Fiori Client requires URL rewriting to be done by the backend, which is not capable of constructing URLs using certain SAP Relay Server artifacts, such as the farm ID.

End of the caution.

The installation procedure for SAP Web Dispatcher is provided by the software provisioning tool SAPInst. The installation also requires the corresponding Unicode kernel archive. You can download both the software provisioning tool and the kernel archive from the Software Logistics Toolset page at http://service.sap.com/sltoolsetInformation published on SAP site.

If you use SAP Web Dispatcher as the reverse proxy, we recommend using the latest version. See SAP Note 908097Information published on SAP site for release information.

SAP Fiori Client

Component

More Information

SAP Fiori Client (appstore version)

End users can install the SAP Fiori Client app directly from the commercial app stores, or the administrator can deploy the application to devices or an enterprise app store using a mobile device management (MDM) or mobile application management (MAM) solution such as SAP Mobile Secure.

For more information, see the SAP Fiori Client product documentation on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/fiori-clientInformation published on SAP site.

SAP Fiori Client (custom version)

Developers can use the Hybrid SDK (Kapsel) to develop hybrid applications based on Apache Cordova architecture.

The Hybrid SDK includes a script that developers can use to create a custom Fiori Client with a different application icon or title, support for custom authentication schemes, and additional Cordova plugins.

For more information, see the SAP Mobile Platform SDK documentation at http://help.sap.com/mobile-platformInformation published on SAP site and the following tutorial on SAP Community Network: http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-56080Information published on SAP site.

SAP Mobile Secure (optional)

Component

More Information

SAP Mobile Secure, enterprise edition

SAP Mobile Secure is an integrated, cloud-based enterprise mobility management portfolio. It comprises a comprehensive mobile device management (MDM) solution and a customizable enterprise app store (SAP Mobile Place).

Users on both MDM-managed and unmanaged devices can discover and download relevant apps and set up related services such as network access, email, identity, and more.

Note Note

The SAP Mobile Secure mobile app discovery service is integrated with SAP HANA Cloud Platform Mobile Services, and does not require a separate subscription for SAP Mobile Secure.

End of the note.

SAP Afaria (on premise)

Afaria is a mobile device management (MDM) system that allows you to secure and manage your organization’s mobile devices, mobile applications, and data. You can remotely connect to enrolled mobile devices to configure the device and install required applications. Afaria is part of the Mobile Secure suite of products from SAP.

For more information, see the Afaria product documentation on SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/afaria7sp5Information published on SAP site.

Certificate Provisioning

Afaria uses digital certificates to secure connections between managed devices and servers and devices on your network such as your Enrollment Server, Exchange server, and WiFi routers. Certificates are issued by your enterprise's certificate authority (CA). You can use Afaria to request a certificate from your CA to send to the device. The device then uses the certificate to authenticate when it connects to your network.

See the following sections in the Afaria product documentation:

  1. Preparing to Install Afaria for the steps to configure your CA and installing a CA proxy.

  2. Configuring Afaria for the steps to create CA profiles and associate them with the Enrollment and Package servers.

  3. Device Management for the steps to create configuration policies that include certificate requests and to revoke and renew certificates on managed devices.

Application Onboarding

For commercial or enterprise applications for iOS and Android devices, Afaria can provision application configuration data and certificates to facilitate onboarding.

For more information see Device Management, chapter Application Onboarding in the Afaria product documentation.
