Business Context and Use

You can use this outbound operation to send ASN to the receiver of a delivery. An ASN is a notification sent by the shipper or vendor to the product recipient about the planned or pending arrival, pickup, or issue date of a delivery, including details about the contents of the delivery.

The recipient uses the ASN to validate the incoming delivery against pending purchase orders and to plan the inbound process of the arrived goods, for example, door assignment, goods receipt, or putaway.

Configuration

You have installed and configured SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM), including the Extended Warehouse Management (SCM-EWM) software component.

ASNs are sent by the following PPF actions in application /SCDL/DELIVERY and action profile /SCDL/FD_OUT :

  • / SCWM/BIF_ASN - XI Message Shipping Notification

  • / SCWM/BIF_ASN_DEL - Delete XI Message Shipping Notification

You can define PPF actions and scheduling conditions in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management under SCM Extended Warehouse Management -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Cross-Process Setings -> Delivery Processing -> Actions -> Change Actions and Conditions.

You can also define the condition techniques in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management under SCM Extended Warehouse Management -> Extended Warehouse Management -> Cross-Process Setings -> Delivery Processing -> Actions -> Configure Action Scheduling.
