Outbound Processing: Transportation Planning in TM-EWM
When you plan to send goods of several outbound delivery documents with the same transport, transportation planning is done in SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) based on SAP ERP sales orders or deliveries. Based on the planned freight orders, SAP TM sends a loading appointment request message to SAP EWM. As a result, SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) automatically creates vehicles or transportation units (TUs), as well as planned shipping and receiving activities, and in the same step, assigns deliveries or delivery items to the TU activities. After warehouse execution, you communicate the transport information as a loading appointment notification message to SAP TM in order to carry out transport execution and freight settlement in SAP TM.
You have integrated vehicles and TUs with SAP TM freight orders as described in Integration of Freight Orders (TM) in Shipping and Receiving.
SAP TM receives sales orders or deliveries from SAP ERP and creates corresponding transportation requirements and freight units.
Based on transportation requirements, transportation planning is done and freight orders are created in SAP TM.
If transportation planning was done based on sales orders, SAP TM creates deliveries in SAP ERP.
SAP ERP distributes outbound deliveries to SAP EWM and SAP EWM automatically generates corresponding warehouse requests of the type outbound delivery order.
Based on the freight orders, SAP TM automatically sends a loading appointment request message to SAP EWM.
The loading appointment request is transferred to SAP EWM, where a vehicle or TUs and planned shipping and receiving activities are created automatically and the outbound delivery orders are assigned to the TU activities.
You perform the warehouse activities related to the outbound delivery orders such as picking, packing, staging, and loading the goods. Note that all warehouse activities except loading can be performed before the arrival of the vehicle or TU to the door.
You execute the action Arrival at Checkpoint
for the vehicle or the TU. The system automatically changes the status of the shipping and receiving activity from Planned
to Active
.
You assign a door to the vehicle or the TU.
If yard management is active, you move the vehicle or the TU from the yard to the assigned door.
If yard management is not active, you execute the action Arrival at Door
for the vehicle or the TU.
You perform the warehouse activities, such as loading the goods, posting the goods issue, and printing the transportation documents.
With the goods issue posting in SAP EWM, the delivery information is transferred to SAP ERP, where the deliveries are automatically updated with the execution data. The delivery information is forwarded to SAP TM for the purpose of updating the consumed transportation requirements.
If yard management is active, you move the vehicle or the TU from the door to the yard.
If yard management is not active, you execute the action Departure from Door
for the vehicle or the TU.
You execute the action Departure from Checkpoint
for the vehicle or the TU. SAP EWM automatically changes the status of the shipping and receiving activity from Active
to Completed
.
With the departure from checkpoint in SAP EWM, a loading appointment notification message is transferred to SAP TM, where the freight orders are automatically updated with the execution data.
You set the execution status of the SAP TM freight order to Completed
.
You carry out the freight settlement in SAP TM. The freight settlement document in SAP TM is the basis for the invoice verification and settlement in SAP ERP.
