Settings
The Settings
dialog box is displayed the first time you start the Shipping Cockpit – Planning
or Shipping Cockpit – Execution
, or if you call it up subsequently.
The Warehouse Number
, Weight Unit
, and Volume Unit
fields are mandatory. Typically the weight and volume units that are used in the warehouse are dimensions of bin capacities, for example, kilograms or cubic decimeters, as these units are used for bin capacity checks. But the weight and volume capacity of a truck might be much bigger, for example, tons or cubic meters, so you must typically specify different units here than those that are used in the warehouse.
Note
If you choose tons as your weight unit, this can cause weights to be rounded up in the display for single outbound delivery orders, which can cause the rounded weight or volume of a single outbound delivery order to be zero.
If you are only responsible for outbound delivery order planning for one shipping office, you can enter this shipping office in your user settings.
You can set up different hierarchy levels, which influence the display in the Deliveries
, Transportation Units
, and Execution View
screen areas. The following hierarchy levels are available:
Transportation Unit
Route
Ship-to
Delivery
Example
You typically plan a transportation unit by route and route schedule. In that case you can set up the hierarchy as follows:
Object on level 1 Transportation Unit
Object on level 2 Route
If you are interested in customers and data for single outbound delivery orders, you might set up additional hierarchy levels as follows:
Object on level 3 Ship-to
Object on level 4 Delivery
In the Deliveries
, Transportation Units
, and Execution View
screen areas on each hierarchy level, you can see aggregated information of the hierarchy levels below. You can perform several actions on each of these hierarchy levels, thus reducing the amount of time you need to spend working in the system.
