Use

You use the Event Hierarchy to display an overview of the program. You use a display, organized in event classes, to achieve a aggregated view.

The system aggregates event types into event groups and the event groups into event classes.

Features

The following information is available for each type of event:

  • Event class

The event classes are the top level of the hierarchy and are divided into the following types:

    • A Modularization units internal

The event class summarizes the effect of ABAP coding inside the application server.

    • B Modularization units external (RFC)

The event class summarizes the effect of coding processed via RFC.

    • C Internal tables

Internal tables are listed separately as they not used in the default setting.

    • D Internal Storage

The event class shows the effects related to data storage inside the application server.

    • E External Storage

The event class shows the effects related to data storage inside the database.

    • X Others

The event class contains all other events that are not under your direct control.

    • Z Runtime analysis

The event class contains the time that the Runtime Analysis used. The time measured is small, except if the tracing is restricted to particular units. The percentages are calculated based on the whole time. The percentages are calculated from the total including the contributions that are not traced by particular units. The event class also contains load and generation times and undefined events.

  • The net times of the event class in Trace 1 and Trace 2.

  • The net times as a percentage.

  • The number of executions of the event class in Trace 1 and Trace 2.

  • The number of lines in Trace 1 and Trace 2.

Functions

You use the following functions to switch between the three levels of the event hierarchy.

There are always two functions active. The level that is displayed cannot be called.

  • Event Classes

If you choose Event Classes, the system displays the top level of the hierarchy containing the event.

  • Event Groups

If you choose Event Groups, the system displays the middle level of the hierarchy containing the event.

  • Event Types

If you choose Event Types, the system displays the lowest level of the hierarchy containing the event.

Navigation

From the Event Hierarchy, you can navigate to the following displays:

  • Hit List Comparison

To return to the Hit List Comparison, choose ( To Hit List).

  • Limited hit list

You can display only a selected row of the Event Hierarchy in the hit list comparison. Choose (Restrict Hit List) for this.

  • Program Hit Lists

To navigate to this display, choose ( Program Hit List).
