Activate Activation VariantsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Procedure

To activate the objects contained in an Activation Variant ( Checkpoint Groups and Compilation Units) in the specified operation mode, choose Activate in the Activation Variant window on the initial screen of transaction SAAB. The following activations are possible:

  • Personal Activation

  • User-Specific Activation

  • Server-Specific Activation

If you choose Personal Activation, the relevant objects are only activated for your user. The other two options allow you to specify a user or server of your choice. To activate an activation variant for all users or servers, enter an asterisk (*) as the value. You can delete the activation by choosing Deactivate.

You are also requested to enter the maximum validity period of the activation. You can specify that the activation reamins active for the current day, week, or for a period until a specific date.

If you only want to activate specific objects of an activation variant, switch to the display mode. Here you can select individual objects. Only the selected objects are then included in the activation. If no objects are selected, all objects are activated.

When you activate an activation variant, the system reports any possible conflicts with the current activation statuses of the checkpoint groups and/or compilation units, provided these were set by other users. However, the user can still make changes in the case of conflicts.
