Outbound Processing with Dock Appointment Scheduling in EWM
When you plan to send goods of several outbound delivery orders (ODOs) with the same transport, transportation planning is done in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) and SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling. For ODOs that are not transported by a regular route, you can use manual planning functionality in the shipping cockpit for creation of transportation units (TUs) and assignment of ODOs to the TUs. For each TU, an appointment is automatically created in SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling. You can use SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling for capacity planning of appointments or TUs onto loading points. After appointments or TUs are planned in SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling and have a fixed planned time for arrival and departure, a background job can be used to plan the movement of goods of the TUs onto staging areas and staging area bays. Also, manual planning of staging areas in the Shipping Cockpit is possible. Based on the planned TUs, the warehouse execution can start. From within the shipping cockpit, the progress of warehouse execution can be monitored by the shipping office clerk. When the truck arrives at the warehouse, all necessary tasks, such as arrival at checkpoint, arrival at door, and so on, can be performed from the shipping cockpit. You can also post the arrival at checkpoint in SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling. After the goods are loaded into the truck, which can be monitored in the shipping cockpit, the tasks for finalizing the truck, such as posting goods issue, departure from door and checkpoint, and so on, can be performed from the shipping cockpit. You can also post the departure from the checkpoint in SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling.
