You can change the name or size of the local system log file for each instance. First, go to the relevant instance (SM51). Then in profile parameter maintenance (RZ11) you can change the default value of the parameter. The relevant profile parameters are described below:
The default size of the system log file is 10MB. This means that the oldest data in the file is overwritten by the system as soon as the maximum allowed size of the log file is reached. Depending on the frequency of messages on an instance, this can mean that the last days or weeks are available. You can change the size of the log file with the parameter below:
|
Parameter |
Description |
Default Value |
|---|---|---|
|
rslg/max_diskspace/local |
Size of the log file in bytes |
10,000,000 (10 MB) |
All instances of an SAP system usually have the same system number. The system number has two characters and is defined in profile parameter SAPSYSTEM.
We recommend that you do not change the file name. Only change it if absolutely necessary.
