Business Context and Use

The Connect Vehicle Appointment inbound operation is a request to the Site Logistics Processing  process component to connect a vehicle appointment and transportation unit appointments. This operation is needed when a planner wants to connect transportation units to a vehicle. For example, the planner intends to connect a road trailer to a road vehicle, or railway cars to a locomotive. In these cases, the planner must connect the transportation unit appointments with the vehicle appointment. The connection of a vehicle appointment can refer to a planned or an actual connection between transportation units and a vehicle.

Example

A planner wants to optimize the dock appointments for a vehicle with several transportation units that are moved within a yard or that need to leave the yard. In this case, he or she can use the Connect Vehicle Appointment operation to connect the vehicle appointment to transportation unit appointments.
