The Connect Vehicle Appointment
inbound operation is a request to the Site
Logistics Processing process component to connect a vehicle appointment and transportation unit appointments. This operation is needed when a planner wants to connect transportation units to a vehicle. For example, the planner intends to connect a road trailer to a road vehicle, or
railway cars to a locomotive. In these cases, the planner must connect the transportation unit appointments with the vehicle appointment. The connection of a vehicle appointment can refer to a planned or an actual connection between transportation units and a vehicle.
A planner wants to optimize the dock appointments for a vehicle with several transportation units that are moved within a yard or that need to leave the yard. In this case, he or she can use the Connect
Vehicle Appointment
operation to connect the vehicle appointment to transportation unit appointments.
This is an asynchronous operation. If your system is set up to work with synchronous operations, you can also use the Connect Vehicle Appointment synchronous operation.

Ordinal numbers of the transportation unit appointments
In systems based on SAP EWM: If you get the error message Vehicle activity &1 was not found in the data
(/SCWM/SHP_RCV 286), no vehicle was found for the yard resource appointment ID. Check if the yard resource appointment ID is correct.
The Connect Vehicle Appointment
inbound operation supports Forward
Error Handling . Errors of the error category DCE (Determination and Conversion Error) might occur.

The vehicle appointment and the connected transportation unit appointments must exist in the back-end system. The vehicle appointment and the transportation unit appointments must have the status Planned

operation, you must use the External

Note that in a back-end system with SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM), connected transportation units are referred to as “assigned transportation units”.
