Time Scheduling
You can use the shipping cockpit to schedule the dates for planned arrival and planned departure of transportation units (TUs). Time scheduling for TUs allows better reliability of planned times for TUs and better insight into which planned arrival and departure times are more reliable than others. Reliable arrival times from the carrier ensure that you can stage goods on time and only when needed. You can also better ensure that deliveries are shipped to customers on time.
The options for time scheduling are as follows:
You communicate separately with the carrier and then manually enter the planned arrival and departure times in the Create TU
, Create TU & Assign Delivery
, or Change TU
dialog boxes. If you use Create TU & Assign Delivery
in the Deliveries
screen area, the planned departure date is by default set to the earliest out of yard date of the outbound delivery orders, but you can overwrite this. If you use Create TU
in the Transportation Units
screen area, the planned departure date is by default set to tomorrow. You can select the Planned Times Fixed
checkbox manually.
You use the Set Planned Arrival Time
button in the Create TU
or Change TU
dialog boxes to set a planned arrival time. This is determined according to the TU profile and the planned departure time. Typically you would use this function for routes that have fixed route departure schedules.
You plan times using SAP Dock Appointment Scheduling and enter them in appointment maintenance, or use the capacity overview to find an appropriate planned arrival time and enter the times in the Change TU
dialog box.
The status Planned Times Fixed
for TU activities indicates whether or not the planned dates for TU activities are scheduled and agreed with the carrier. You can set and change this status in the shipping cockpit using the Create TU
and Change TU
buttons. If you select the Planned Times Fixed
checkbox, the out-of-yard dates in all assigned outbound delivery orders are updated with the planned departure date.
