Proof of Delivery in EWM
In outbound processes, ship-to parties can confirm the receipt of goods. In the sending facility, you can enter reported differences, such as deviations between the physical quantity and the quantity on the delivery slip as proof-of-delivery (PoD) data in SAP ERP. In order to improve the performance of a warehouse, EWM provides a detailed PoD analysis in the EWM monitor, helping you to find the cause of incorrect deliveries in outbound processes. For this purpose, the PoD data created in ERP is regularly imported to EWM and is enriched by warehouse activity data. You can use the PoD data in EWM by using measurement services to build key performance indicators, such as Ratio Outbound Delivery Errors and monitor them in the warehouse cockpit. In addition, you can use the PoD data in EWM as the basis for data extraction to BI, where it is used to build the key performance indicator Ratio Outbound Delivery Errors.
You can use proof of delivery in EWM as follows:
Create PoD-relevant outbound deliveries in ERP. The system replicates the deliveries to EWM. In EWM, the items in the outbound delivery documents are marked as PoD-relevant.
Next, execute the warehouse activities, such as picking, packing, staging and loading and then post the goods issue for the outbound deliveries in EWM.
Confirm receipt of the PoD from the ship-to party in the ERP system.
In case there were no quantity differences reported in the PoD, only the PoD status is updated in the outbound delivery in ERP. This information is not communicated to EWM. In case of differences, PoD data is created in ERP
Regularly import the PoD data to EWM using a background job.
PoD data in EWM is always an indicator for incorrect deliveries. In case no PoD data exists for a PoD-relevant delivery in EWM, EWM assumes that the delivery was correct.
In the EWM monitor, analyze the PoD data, which contains information about the warehouse activities.
If you are using KPI reporting in EWM, build measurement services using PoD data and monitor them in the warehouse cockpit.
If you are using KPI reporting in BI, export the PoD-relevant deliveries and the PoD data to BI on a regular basis.
