Warehouse Product Migration
You can use this function to migrate warehouse product data and some warehouse-independent product data from LE-WM into SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM). The following options are available when migrating data:
Migrate product master data
Migrate fixed bin assignments
You can create fixed bin assignments which are part of the master data in ERP in EWM, where they are stored in a separate table (/SCWM/BINMAT).
Migrate palletization data
If the master data of the migrated products in ERP includes palletization data, you can transfer this data into EWM in the form of new packaging specifications. A separate packaging specification is created for each product. The data is stored in a sequential text file, which is passed to the transaction /SCWM/IPU for upload.
Migrate warehouse management unit of measure (UoM)
You can migrate the warehouse management UoM from ERP material master data and use it to create a packaging specification in EWM for warehouse task creation. The data is also stored in the sequential text file which is passed to the transaction /SCWM/IPU for upload.
Global material master data is generally distributed through the core interface (CIF). However, the data on warehouse or storage type level is not considered there, because it is the responsibility of the warehouse management.
This function reads the corresponding material data from ERP using an RFC connection. The data sources in ERP are the following tables:
MLGN - Material Data for Each Warehouse Number
MLGT - Material Data for Each Storage Type
MARA – General Material Data (optional)
MARC – Plant Data for Material (optional)
The system converts the extracted ERP data to an EWM-compatible format and downloads it to one sequential file. If the ERP product has palletization or warehouse UoM information, and the corresponding parameters are set, the system creates a separate file for the packaging specification upload. You can display and change these two intermediate files. During download, you can also change the field mapping using BAdIs.
You can also use this function to upload these files into the EWM system. The system updates the data in the warehouse product master records, which you can display with the transaction /SCWM/MAT1.
If you have specified it, the system also creates fixed bin assignments, which you can display using the transaction /SCWM/BINMAT.
If relevant, the system also converts packaging data into a new packaging specification during the upload. The packaging specifications that have been created are not activated at this point.
You have set up an RFC connection in the LE-WM and EWM systems.
You have mapped the LE-WM warehouse number to the EWM warehouse number in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management under .
You have created storage types in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management under .
You have created the relevant fixed bins or migrated them from LE-WM on the SAP Easy Access screen for Extended Warehouse Management under or .
You have created Entitled to Dispose as a business partner for the migrated plants.
You have distributed the global material master data to EWM using CIF.
You have maintained mapping entries for each storage unit type used in the ERP product master palletization data on the SAP Easy Access screen for Extended Warehouse Management under .
To migrate the warehouse management unit of measure, you have defined mapping on the SAP Easy Access screen for Extended Warehouse Management under .
You can use the same tools for download from LE-WM and upload into EWM. The sequential files can be stored either locally on your PC or as a logical file on the server. You must specify the source system and client in the field ERP Business System. You can restrict the entries that are read from the ERP system, selecting by ERP warehouse number, storage type, and product number. If you want to read plant-specific data, you must enter an ERP plant.
Recommendation
You should only enter an ERP plant if you want to migrate the MARC fields MARC-ABCIN (Cycle counting indicator) and MARC-EPRIO (Stock determination group), because the additional selection might slow down the report runtime. If you only want the warehouse-specific data, you can leave the ERP plant selection parameter empty.
For fixed bin assignment, the same logic can be applied as is available for storage bin migration in general. This means that you can assign the storage type to the storage bin name in Customizing, either with or without a special separator. To assign a storage type to a storage bin, go to in Customizing.
When uploading and downloading, you can choose to migrate the data of the product master records, the fixed bin assignments, the packaging specification creation data and/or the warehouse management UoM separately. The product data and fixed bins are stored in the same sequential CSV file, whereas for the palletization or warehouse UoM data the system creates a text file. This is necessary because the packaging specification upload is carried out using the transaction /SCWM/IPU, which requires a text file.
You can manually change the Entitled to Dispose field. By default it is set by the ERP plant (if given) or the warehouse number default values in EWM
After downloading, you can display the product data records in an ALV list. When uploading, you can update the product master data again, create fixed bin assignments, or upload the palletization data separately or in the same run.
To check the data for the product master after uploading, you can use the transaction /SCWM/MAT1. You can display a list of the fixed bin assignments with the transaction /SCWM/BINMAT. If packaging specifications are created, the numbers of the created specifications are shown in a protocol at the end of the upload. Using the numbers (or other selection parameters such as the creator’s name or creation time), you can select the packaging specifications in the transaction /SCWM/PACKSPEC. To use the created packaging specifications, you must first have selected and activated them.
To delete warehouse number or storage type-specific product master data, you can use the existing transaction for changing master data. You can find this transaction on the SAP Easy Access screen under or by using the transaction MASSD. Here you can initialize the relevant fields. The warehouse number and storage type views are not completely deleted.
To delete assignments of fixed storage bins, you use the existing transaction for mass deletion. You can find it in the SAP Easy Access screen under or by using the transaction /SCWM/RFIXBINDEL.
To delete the created packaging specifications, run the transaction /SCWM/PACKSPEC, select the packaging specifications, and delete them.
For the warehouse management UoM, the system decides which unit should be used according to the rule given in the field Propose UoM From Mat in ERP Warehouse Management General Data. For example, the value ‘ ‘ in this rule indicates that the basis UoM should be the warehouse management UoM. If the chosen field for the warehouse management UoM is initial, the system reads table T340D and decides on a UoM according to rule 1 in this field. If the UoM is still initial, the system does the same with rule 2. These two rules are exactly the same as those in Propose UoM From Mat, but are the default values on warehouse level in ERP.

All quantities are transferred and stored using the material's base unit of measure.
For the material/product number, the same mapping is used as in the CIF interface. In the intermediate product data file, the product number is already in an EWM-readable format. Warehouse Number, Entitled and other fields are also represented in the file with the EWM values.
The product number in the file for the packaging specification upload is an EWM product number. Additional data in this file is either taken from the mapping that you have specified in the transaction /SCWM/MIG_MAP_SUT, or from the packaging specification Customizing (such as the level type names assigned to the level set used, which in turn is assigned to the packaging specification group).

When uploading, the selection criteria are ignored, but complete files are read. So it is only essential to input the correct sequential files and to choose a type of update (product master and/or fixed bin assignment and/or packaging specification).
