Planning Only For Equipment or Only For Functional Locations 

Use

In the Web UI of the planning application, the combination of equipment and functional locations is always specified or displayed. If you also want to plan for equipment without having to enter a functional location, follow the procedure described below.

This allows you to enter a piece of equipment “without a functional location“ in the Web UI. Internally this data record is displayed as follows: With the corresponding equipment number and a ”#“ (= not assigned) for the number of the functional location.

Procedure

A sample procedure is described in the example for selecting equipment plans.

       1.      In the BW-BPS system, call up the processing for InfoObjects. Choose Modeling ® Object Maintenance ® InfoObject.

       2.      Call up the master data maintenance for the characteristic 0FUNCT_LOC (functional location) in the display mode.

       3.      Make the selection for the characteristic without selection criteria.

In the results list, there is a data record without a functional location entry.

       4.      Call up this functional location in the change mode.

       5.      Enter All for all the attributes (such as cost center, planner group) that you are assigning to the variables. Save your changes.

       6.      Activate the master data for the functional location.

       7.      Choose Business Planning and Simulation ® Planning Workbench and assign the attribute value All to the user in the variables (for example, Funct.Loc.: History-Based (Attribute)).

Result

The user can now create data records without specifying a functional location, for example, equipment plans in a task list scenario.
