Enter Selection Conditions
You enter selection conditions according to which the system is to search for changed and logged data records. You have a different number of selection conditions available to you depending on whether you are in standard or enhancement mode.
Note
Enter as many selection conditions as possible. This delimits the search, and the results are available more quickly.
The entry of selection conditions constitutes an AND operation. As a result, the system only searches for data that meets all the selection conditions.
If you place several selection conditions in the buffer memory using Adopt Selection in enhancement mode and then start the evaluation, the system searches for all data records that match at least one of the combinations of selection conditions that you adopted.
Enter selection conditions according to which the system is to search for changed data in table logs or change documents. Selection conditions available in standard mode include:
Date and time period in which a change was made. This is a required entry.
Name of the user under whose system ID a change was made to data.
Transaction to which a changed table or change document object was assigned. This is a required entry, but you can also enter a placeholder (such as an asterisk ‘*’).
You also have the following additional options:
Long Text
If you check this box, the system uses the selection conditions entered to search for associated changed long texts in addition to changed data (see Logging Long Texts).
Evaluate Details
This option only affects the evaluation of table logs. If you check this box, the system not only shows that a data change has taken place but also lists the old and new data values in the evaluation. For each data record, the type of change is shown in the Data Record column.
From the menu, choose to switch to enhancement mode.
In addition to the selection conditions of standard mode, enter the additional, object-specific selection conditions on the relevant tab page:
Four tab pages are available for evaluation in enhanced mode:
Take account of change document objects and table logs
Take account of change document objects only
Take account of table logs only
Take account of changed long texts only
You select an evaluation variant by entering the selection conditions on the relevant tab page.
When evaluating table logs and change documents, you can use the following conditions to limit selection in addition to those available in the standard mode:
Type of change: Only newly inserted, changed, or deleted data records is sought:
Inserted: A new data record has been inserted in a table.
Changed: The data value in a table field has been changed.
Deleted: A data record has been deleted from a table.
Table name: Technical name of the tables to be evaluated. The system only searches in the specified tables.
Table field: Technical name of the table fields to be evaluated. The system only searches in the specified table fields.
Choose the Adopt Selection button.
The system writes the current selection to the local buffer memory for subsequent evaluation.
Enter further selection conditions or start the evaluation.
You can initially store any number of combinations of selection conditions locally, and then run an evaluation over all of them together. The system then determines all data records that match at least one of the adopted combinations of selection conditions.
Note
If you enter too many combinations of selection conditions, the evaluation may be terminated by a timeout or memory overflow.
Evaluate table logs only:
If you only want the system to search for table logs, you can enter the table keys of the table you want to evaluate on the Table Logs tab page.
Note
We recommend that you use wildcards, because the table keys can also contain fields that you may not be aware of.
Evaluate change document objects only:
If you only want the system to search for change document objects, the following conditions are additionally available to you on the Change Logs tab page:
Change Document Number: The number under which a change document is stored
Object Value
Change Document Object: Technical name of the change document object
Table Key: The key of the changed data record
Evaluate table logs and change document objects:
For combined searches for change document objects and table logs, the above-mentioned selection conditions from the two variants are available on the corresponding tab page.
Choose My Prepopulation.
Enter the desired selection conditions and choose Continue.
Enter any necessary attributes for the variant and choose Save.
Note
You can only save one variant per user ID. This is stored under the name U_[user ID]. See also: Evaluation of Logged Data
To delete the variant again, choose .
