Function documentationSnapshots in BCV Locate this document in the navigation structure

You use this function to create snapshots of your query views, for example when you want to save a result with special input parameters.

Activities

  • You create snapshots in query views by choosing   Functions   Create Snapshot  .

  • In the dialog box that appears, you can enter a description and a life span. The life span is the length of time the system stores the snapshot for. After the life span ends, the system deletes the snapshot automatically. You can delete your snapshots manually as well. To do so, in Customizing, choose   Cross-Application Components   Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications   Business Context Viewer   Maintenance   Delete Snapshots  .

  • If you select the Save Breadcrumbs checkbox, the system saves the breadcrumbs along with the snapshot.

  • If you select the Save Breadcrumbs as Snapshot checkbox, the system memorizes the query views of the breadcrumbs as snapshots with their complete data. If you want to save system resources, you can disable this function at the creation of the snapshot. If you do not select this checkbox, the system only memorizes the previously executed query views and their parameters, but not the received data.

    Note Note

The system takes into account the snapshots of the query views and of the breadcrumbs in the calculation of the maximum number of snapshots per user. The system always counts the number of snapshots on the query view level. This means that if your create a complete snapshot of a query view including, for example, two breadcrumbs, the system counts this snapshot as three.

    End of the note.
  • In the Authorizations tab page, you can define the authorizations for the snapshot.

  • You can specify snapshot parameters in Customizing, under   Cross-Application Components   Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications   Business Context Viewer   Maintenance   Define Snapshot Parameters  .
