The short text editor includes functions that enable you to directly access information in the SAPterm terminology database.

Procedure

Finding Terminology

To search SAPterm for entries for a specific source text, proceed as follows:

  1. Place your cursor on a source text that you want to find in the terminology database, and choose   Terminology   Find  .

  2. This takes you to a dialog box in which you can change the search string. You can also change or set the source and target languages, depending on your SAPterm user settings.

  3. Choose Continue.

    This takes you to the Terminology Database: screen, in which the system displays all of the entries in the terminology database that satisfy your search criteria.

  4. To return to the short text editor, choose Back. You can close the terminology search dialog box by choosing Cancel.

Maintaining Terminology

If you want to change or create an entry in SAPterm for a specific source text, proceed as follows:

  1. Place your cursor on the source text that you want to change or create in the terminology database, and choose   Terminology   Maintain  .

  2. The Maintain Terminology: Initial Screen appears. For more informationen on how to maintain terminology in the SAPterm terminology database, see Creating Terminology Entries and Maintaining Terminology Entries.

  3. To return to the short text editor, choose Back.

Finding All Source Texts in Terminology

If you want to find out if an entry exists in SAPterm for all of the source texts in the short text object you are currently translating, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Find All Source Texts in Terminology (Find All Source Texts in Terminology) or   Terminology   Find All Source Texts in Terminology  .

  2. If the source text exists in SAPterm, the system displays a book icon in the status bar. If you want to display the terminology entry and the translations, click this book icon.

    A dialog box appears containing the following information:

    • The components for which the terminology entry was created

    • The entry class, such as A for system texts

    • The status, such as 3 for released

  3. To call up the required entry, double-click it.

    The system displays information on the required entry. This information comes directly from the terminology system.

Requesting Terminology

This function is primarily intended for external translators. If a source text includes a term that does not exist in the terminology database, translators can ask for the term to be entered in the terminology database by choosing   Terminology   Request  .
