Outbound Processing: Transportation Planning in EWM-ERP-TM
When you send goods for outbound deliveries to customers, you use transportation units or vehicles to plan and execute the loading and the transport of the goods in EWM. After the warehouse execution you communicate the transport information via ERP to Transportation Management in order to carry out transport execution and freight settlement in TM.
You have performed the steps to integrate vehicles and TUs with ERP shipments as described in Integration of ERP Shipments in Shipping and Receiving.
You have performed the ERP logistics integration in SAP Transportation Management. For more information, see SAP Library for SAP TM on SAP Help Portal at /http://help.sap.com/tm. In SAP Library, choose .
You or EWM create warehouse requests for outbound delivery orders. Either ERP distributes outbound deliveries to EWM and EWM automatically generates corresponding warehouse requests, or you manually generate warehouse requests in EWM.
You manually create a vehicle and/or a TU and a planned shipping and receiving activity in EWM.
You execute the action Arrival at Checkpoint for the vehicle or the TU. The system automatically changes the status of the shipping and receiving activity from Planned to Active.
You manually assign the warehouse requests to the shipping and receiving activity in EWM.
You or EWM assign a door to the vehicle or the TU.
If yard management is active, you move the vehicle or the TU from the yard to the assigned door. If yard management is not active, you execute the action Arrival at Door for the vehicle or the TU.
You perform the warehouse activities related to the outbound delivery orders such as picking, packing, staging and loading the goods. Note that all warehouse activities except loading can be performed before arrival of the vehicle or TU to the door.
If yard management is active, you move the vehicle or the TU from the door to the yard. If yard management is not active, you execute the action Departure from Door for the vehicle or the TU.
You post goods issue for the vehicle, the transportation units or the outbound deliveries. With the goods issue posting in EWM, the transport information is transferred to SAP ERP, where a shipment is automatically created that contains the transport unit and the execution dates. SAP ERP forwards the transport information to Transportation Management, where a freight order is automatically created. In this step you have the possibility not to set the shipment end date in SAP ERP if you want to monitor the cargo in transit and the arrival at the customer site in SAP TM.
You execute the action Departure from Checkpoint for the vehicle or the TU. EWM automatically changes the status of the shipping and receiving activity from Active to Completed.
You set the execution status of the TM freight order to Completed if this was not done automatically in the previous step.
You carry out the freight settlement in TM. The freight settlement document in TM is the basis for the invoice verification and settlement in ERP.
