You implement a Core Interface (CIF) Business Add-In (BAdI) to handle conflicting ERP numbers. The system calls this BAdI when an entity that is represented by a business partner in SAP EWM is transferred from the ERP system. The BAdI handles the following cases:
There is no business partner with the corresponding number. The ERP number is used to create a new one.
There is already a business partner with the corresponding number but with a different partner role and/or from a different ERP system. In this case a new business partner ID is created.
There is already a business partner corresponding to the ERP entity that is updated with the ERP data.
For more information, see Solving Business Partner ID Conflicts.
You can customize how business partner IDs are displayed in SAP EWM. To distinguish between business partners with the same ERP number, the ERP number is displayed together with a differentiator which makes it unique. This representation is referred to as the external business partner ID as opposed to the real business partner number, which is then called the internal business partner number.
For more information, see Displaying the ERP Number.
When business partner ID mapping is activated there are two different possibilities for the display of business partner IDs, as follows:
The differentiator is always displayed. This behavior is recommended if there are a lot of number conflicts.
The differentiator is only displayed if the business partner's ERP number is not unique. This behavior can be used if there are only a few number conflicts.
For more information, see Using the External Business Partner ID.
