In addition to transferring the archive files of a legacy system to the RW system, you can also transfer the related ArchiveLink links to attachments and print lists. To be able to store these links for the required periods, in the RW system, you use the ILM rules to generate ArchiveLink references to the attachments and print lists stored in a Content Repository. The ArchiveLink references are empty resources in the ILM store hierarchy. Their purpose is to keep the properties of the ArchiveLink documents specified by ILM rules in the ILM store.

Prerequisites

You have prepared the legacy system and you have transferred the Content Repository definitions to the RW system.

Procedure

1. Calling Up Transfer and Generation of ArchiveLink References

  1. In ILM Retention Warehouse Cockpit for administrators, choose Start of the navigation path Archive Files Transfer Next navigation step Transfer Attachments and Prints Lists End of the navigation path.

  2. Under Links to Legacy Systems, select the legacy system ID (double-click).

2. Transferring ArchiveLink Links to the RW System

  1. On the Transfer Attachments and Prints Lists tab page, select the relevant entries from the list of Attachments and Print Lists.

  2. Choose Data Transfer.

  3. Schedule the execution of data transfer as follows:

    Input

    Description

    Storage date (from - to)

    Restrict the selection according to the entry date in the table of ArchiveLink links in the legacy system.

    Flow control

    • Test mode: Simulation of the transfer of ArchiveLink links to attachments and print lists (log creation only)

    • Production mode: Transfer of ArchiveLink links to attachments and print lists

    Detail log

    The system also creates a log entry when data transfer is successful (except when errors occur).

  4. Track the progress of the data transfer in Job Overview.

    You see the results of the data transfer in the status column in the list of Attachments and Print Lists.

3. Creating ILM-Compliant ArchiveLink References in the RW System

  1. On the Set References tab page, select the relevant entries from the list of Attachments and Print Lists.

  2. Choose Set References.

  3. Schedule the execution.

  4. Track the progress of the action in Job Overview.

    You see the results of the data transfer in the status column in the list of Attachments and Print Lists.

Result

ArchiveLink references with ILM properties (such as the expiration date) are stored in the ILM store hierarchy. Use the ILM Store Browser for SRS-Based Stores or the ILM Store Browser for XML DAS-Based ILM Stores to check whether ILM properties have been stored for attachments (hierarchy node al) or print lists (hierarchy node dl).

Note Note

You can define ArchiveLink references to attachments and print lists from the legacy system only once. In the RW system, you can also create new print lists (but no attachments) and define retention periods for them.
