Generating Checksums Before Archive File Conversion
You use checksums to compare the scope of the data from the system to be decommissioned with the scope of the data from the ILM store of the RW system. You do this to ensure that the complete data from the legacy system is available in the ILM store.
Checksum generation before and after ILM archive data conversion and storage occurs based on the same check variant. In the check variant, you define which tables and fields of an ILM object you want the system to include during checksum generation.
The ILM object for which you want to generate checksums is assigned to an active audit area.
In the audit area, you define the tables and fields of the ILM object for which checks are available.
In ILM Retention Warehouse Cockpit
for administrators, choose .
Note
You call up this function prior to and after archive file conversion and storage. However, you execute it with different parameters.
On the initial screen, enter the ILM object that refers to checksum generation.
Choose .
Create the check variant (as the definition of checksum generation) as follows:
Enter the name and the description:
Select the table for which you want to create checksums.
The selection menu contains all tables and, if necessary, the table fields that are active for the ILM object in an audit area.
Select one of the following options for each field that you want to include in checksum generation:
Total
: The field is immediately included in checksum generation
Selection Field
: The field is available for selection at a later time, before checksum generation begins.
Save your entries.
Caution
This type of checksum generation includes the data from the legacy system that is available in archived form (in the file system) or in the database of the legacy system. The data has not yet been converted in an ILM-compliant manner in the Retention Warehouse system. Checksum generation is no longer possible for source data from the legacy system once archive file conversion and storage have taken place.
Select the check variant.
Select Generate Checksums
.
Enter the system ID and client of the legacy system.
If you want to transfer other data in addition to the archive files, which have not yet been converted in an ILM-compliant manner in the RW system, from the database of legacy system, or if you want to transfer snapshots, select one of the following options:
Legacy system (database)
In addition to the archive files, the checksums function includes data from the database of the legacy system.
Legacy system (snapshots)
In addition to the archive files, the checksums function includes snapshots from the legacy system that have not yet been converted in an ILM-compliant manner in the RW system.
Optional: Use the selection fields to further restrict your selection.
