You use this heuristic, SAP_PP_025, to propagate the minimum and maximum required shelf life values across the pegging network. This ensures that the required shelf life dates from the independent demands are propagated to dependent demands throughout the pegging network.

The heuristic propagates the required shelf life values one level downward. To propagate the shelf life across a network that includes in-house production orders or external procurement orders, this heuristic must be invoked from within the MRP heuristic (SAP_MRP_001).

Prerequisites

The heuristic propagates or sets shelf life values only for location-products with shelf life planning set to active.

Features

The following settings control the behavior of this heuristic:

  • Propagate required shelf life values: If this setting is used, the heuristic propagates the minimum and maximum required shelf life values from the primary or independent demands (forecast or customer order) to the dependent/stock transfer requirements of the pegged planned order or stock transfer order.

  • Reset shelf life values from Product Master: If this setting is used, the heuristic resets shelf life values for the demand elements in the selected pegging area based on the Product Master settings. The setting is used to reset any propagation of required shelf life values by the heuristic.

  • Set shelf life values: If this setting is used, the heuristic sets the minimum or maximum required shelf life, shelf life duration, and maturation time for the receipt or demand elements based on settings specified in the heuristic.

Activities

To define the heuristic settings, choose the /SAPAPO/HEU_SHL_PROPAGATE algorithm and choose the required action for the shelf life values in the Heuristic Settings area. If you choose to manually set new shelf life values, enter the required parameters in the appropriate fields and save the settings.
